Incentives and tax abatements, Developer, Blighted Property or Disadvantaged Area, Outside Michigan Company, Grant and Incentive Programs, Unsure, Current Michigan Company, Real Estate Developer, Blighted or Historic Property Brownfield Tax Increment Financing Through the Brownfield Redevelopment Financing Act, Brownfield TIF allows applicable taxing jurisdictions to receive property taxes on the property at the current level and capture the incremental increase in tax revenue resulting from a redevelopment project.
Under a MSF approved Work Plan or Combined Plan, projects can seek reimbursement from state and local property taxes for eligible non-environmental activities. Projects can also seek reimbursement from state and local property taxes for eligible environmental activities through submission of a Work Plan or Combined Plan to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.
Funding for my Tech Company Business Accelerator Fund (BAF) The Business Accelerator Fund (BAF) is available to participating business accelerators in Michigan’s statewide SmartZone network. These funds are used toward the delivery of highly specialized services to their clients that are not otherwise available from these business accelerators.
Participating business accelerators engage third party specialists to help advance the client’s path to commercialization, company success, and economic impact for the state of Michigan.

The CAP uses small amounts of public resources to generate private bank financing, providing small Michigan businesses access to capital that might not otherwise be available.
Find Funding, MEDC Suite Services Collateral Support Program The Collateral Support Program is funded by federal dollars provided under the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Act of 2010, and seeks to enable suppliers to acquire the necessary financing that might otherwise be unavailable due to a collateral shortfall according to the lender’s analysis.
The program will supply pledged cash collateral accounts to lenders to achieve this goal for approved projects. To qualify, a business must be engaged with a private lender for the purpose of acquiring a commercial extension of commercial credit.

Municipality, Grant and Incentive Programs, Grant and Loan Programs Match on Main is a small business grant program for eligible businesses in Certified Redevelopment Ready or Michigan Main Street communities. Match on Main provides up to $25,000 for interior and exterior renovations and working capita.

Michigan Cyber Range offers a platform for cyber exercise, product testing, digital forensics and professional certifications. There are five publicly accessible cyber hubs located across the state. Training and Support, Industry Connections Local and Regional Economic Development Organizations Local and regional EDOs exist throughout Michigan to support the growth of companies and the creation of jobs in their region of Michigan.
EDOs offer a variety of resources including business incubators, mentoring, connections, funding, talent recruitment and more. All incentives are subject to a business integrity review, background check process, and other general due diligence as required, the results of which are satisfactory to the MEDC, the Office of the Chief Compliance Officer, and related authorities.
Proposed incentives are dependent on availability of funds each year through the legislative budget process. Incentive amounts are contingent upon the ability of the project to meet program requirements and are subject to an application review and approval process.
