Emory CFAR Pilot & Supplemental Grants (ImageSmall, Pilot, CFAR‑Series)

Emory CFAR Pilot & Supplemental Grants is a funding program from the Emory Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) that supports innovative, high-impact HIV research aligned with NIH HIV Research priority areas.

Administered by the Developmental Core, the program releases several mechanisms annually: an ImageSmall microgrant for small-scale research needs or obstacles in existing or upcoming NIH-funded HIV projects, standard Pilot Grants for early-stage research, and CFAR-Series Pilot Grants designed specifically for early career HIV investigators or independent researchers new to HIV research.

Applications for the microgrant are accepted on a rolling basis. Eligible applicants are researchers affiliated with Emory University. Specific award amounts vary by mechanism.

Applications should promote innovative and high-impact HIV research that aligns with the NIH HIV Research priority areas.

The following research funding opportunities are tailored to specific needs of early career HIV investigators and independent investigators who are new to HIV research: A microgrant to address small-scale research needs or obstacles in an NIH-funded HIV research project or an upcoming NIH HIV research grant application .

CFAR-Series Pilot Grant Program: Pilot grant funding to generate data for an NIH application. Target applicants: early stage investigators and independent investigators who are new to HIV research at Emory University Pilot grant funding to fill or extend research funding for an active NIH K award.

Research Pre-Proposal: September 2 Full Application: October 1 Research Pre-Proposal: March 2 Full Application: April 1 NIH CFAR Supplement Grant Program: Typically, the NIH CFAR Program Office releases an annual call for NIH CFAR Administrative Supplements and/or NIH CFAR Special Supplements (Ending the HIV Epidemic, etc). The topics are determined by the NIH.

Funding from NIH for the CFAR is contingent on our continued demonstration that the CFAR is providing ‘value added’ to the conduct of HIV/AIDS research.
