As part of Oakland County Michigan Works! , our initiative is designed to assist families with limited English speaking abilities to secure employment with dignity. Through a classroom setting, participants are given the opportunity to enhance their ESL skills with the intention to remove roadblocks to daily limitations and ultimately gain work experience.

The program curriculum offers participants the opportunity to experience basic literacy and life skills education, digital and financial literacy, employment planning and goal setting, job readiness and skills training, job search resources and matching, oral communication skills, orientation to the labor market, written skills, and path to citizenship classes.

Adult Education & Employment ACC’s English as a Second Language (ESL) and Employment Training Program specializes in providing ESL services in addition to financial literacy, job search, job readiness and employment services. Through a classroom setting, participating clients are given the opportunity to enhance their language and employability skills.

The following services are offered to enhance client marketability: Basic Literacy and Life Skills Development Digital Literacy (Computer Training) Goals and Employment Plans Job Search Resources and Banks Oral & Written Communication Skills Path to Citizenship Classes John joined ACC in 2002, a multilingual professional who worked prior in the private sector as the CEO of Al Long Ford and as the GM of Century Chevrolet.

Mr. Daoud holds an MBA from Western University and Bachelor of Arts of Albion College.

John currently serves as a State Commissioner on the Michigan Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs appointed by the Governor of the State of Michigan (2 terms – past vice chair), as Board Member/Trustee of the Lions of Michigan Service Foundation, Council Chair for the Council of Governors for the Lions Clubs International Multiple District 11 encompassing the entire lower peninsula, and is a Leadership Detroit Class of XX alum.

John previously served the community through his involvement in the Ford Fund Multicultural Advisory Committee and on the DTE Community Advisory Council for twelve years. Mr. Daoud has sat on many boards both nonprofit and private.

He has served on the Salvation Army Advisory Board as VP (3 terms), as a board member for the Detroit Historical Society (2 terms), Macomb County Board of Michigan Works appointed by the Mayor (3 terms), SE MI Leadership Collaborative MDCR Sector Chair, Eastern Michigan University Advisory Board – Det.

Campus Northwood University Parent Association charter member, Board Secretary on the board of the Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind & Visually Impaired, and as Treasurer Hispanic Business Alliance in Detroit. John’s role at ACC allows him to achieve his personal mission of helping people become self sustaining contributing members of the greater community. John is empowered through ACC to help grow programs through innovation.
