ENA Foundation Scholarships is sponsored by Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Foundation. The ENA Foundation Scholarship Program supports nursing students and nurses pursuing academic study connected to emergency nursing.

org if you have any questions. Tips for Applying for an ENAF Academic Scholarship From the ENA Foundation Scholarship Committee Reading and Understanding the Questions Start early! Give yourself plenty of time to gather documents, references, and review requirements.

Read the question thoroughly. You may have an excellent background, experience and story but if the answer you give doesn't answer the question asked directly, it makes it seem as if you were rushing or not fully focused on the prompt. Answer every question completely , follow all instructions exactly, and do not leave any answer blank.

This is the time to shine with your activities. Be sure to re-read your answers and proofread! Read your responses out loud so you can "hear" how they sound and you will pick up on errors that you missed when reading them to yourself or using spell checkers.

Make sure your response answers the question with specific examples. Avoid simply repeating your resume. Expand on experiences.

Use the word limits. Make sure you are telling your story. This is the only time to give the information.

Focus on impact, not just activities. Explain how your involvement made a difference. Use specific examples of leadership, patient advocacy, education, mentoring, or professional contributions.

Be thorough with your answers but don't overly complicate them. Break down the question, answer what it's asking, and move on. You don't want to explain yourself too much or be too wordy, or your focus may stray.

The reference letters are an important part of the application . Make sure your reference letters are appropriate. You must have one letter from someone that is an ENA member .

If you do not know one: Ask your manager for help OR Reach out to your local / state ENA association OR Go to the ENA website and look up your State and the contact information for the ENA State Council President and/or you can also search by Chapters and reach out to the ENA Chapter President. Ask if either of them will help you out and write a letter of recommendation.

They will want to see your resume and most likely have a conversation with you before they agree. Don't let AI write your answers . It is clear when it is not an original thought or has not been proofread.

This goes for your references too - ask them to write their recommendation letter on their own without AI. Some of the best essays I have read have been written from the heart and demonstrate a clear reason the scholarship will benefit the recipient. One of the things we score applicants on is originality , so after reading a few essays, it is not hard to spot the phrases and trends that AI tends to use.

If you aren't awarded during a cycle, don't hesitate to apply again . Applying can be difficult. Learn from your application and grow yourself.
