Grants - California Rehabilitation Foundation Enabling Independence Program Provides funding to meet the unmet needs of our rehabilitation community. The Enabling Independence Grants Program will provide financial support to those recovering from life altering injuries and illnesses for items and equipment that insurance will not cover.
More Information About Our Program: Applicants must live in Southern California: Imperial, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventur a. Strength of application is based on financial hardship, degree to which item or piece of equipment enables independence, among other factors. Funds will be issued directly to the vendor/manufacturer, not the awardee.
$7,000 is the maximum limit Open to those with acute and chronic physical medicine and rehabilitation conditions You are welcome to apply every other year Funding is based on the type of need: Urgent: Items related to keeping you safe in the home Non-Immediate: Items that will enable you to be more independent in the home and community. We determine financial hardship based on the annual State Income Limits issued by the Department of Housing and Community Development, Division of Housing Policy Development.

If it’s related to keeping you safe in the home, it is considered Urgent.
(Examples include: a ramp to enter the home, a customized bath chair, a hospital bed) If it’s an item that will help you to be more independent but isn’t related to safety, then it is a Non-Immediate item (Examples include but not limited to: standing frame, functional electrical stimulation, minor home modifications, driving evaluations, adapted hand controls, adaptive sports, leisure and recreation equipment, accessibility modifications) I’ve been living with my injury for over five years.
Can I still apply? Yes. The EIP Grants Programs is available to those living with an acute or chronic physical medicine and rehabilitation condition.
Will funds be given directly to me? No. Payment will be provided directly to the vendor/manufacturer. What is the process for applying for an EIP Grant?
