An energy project that sparks a student's interest in engineering. Great ideas begin in the classroom, but too often teachers end up paying out of pocket to bring them to life. That's where Indiana Michigan Power's Teacher Vision and FIRST Robotics Grants can help.
Both grant programs are open now through Dec. 18, providing funding to help pre-K through 12th-grade educators bring hands-on learning opportunities to their classrooms. FIRST Robotics Grants range from $250 to $6,000, and Teacher Vision Grants range from $100 to $500.
Projects that spark curiosity and engage students in science, technology, engineering, math and energy education are especially encouraged. "Teachers have an incredible ability to inspire young minds and help students discover what's possible," said Annie Smith, I&M External Affairs manager. "We know school budgets can't always support every great idea, which is why these grants are so important.
Many of our employees live in these communities, cheer from the sidelines at local games and have children in these classrooms. Supporting education is one way we can give back to the communities that give so much to us." Review the Teacher Vision Grant eligibility requirements and program details.
Develop a classroom project that provides hands-on learning opportunities and engages students in new ways. Previous grants have supported STEM labs, dozens of local robotics teams, purchase new tools and materials, secure technology to further learning and experimental projects that encourage creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving. Last year, I&M awarded a total of 27 grants to local schools and teams across Indiana and Michigan.
