Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) The Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) is positioned to go where the market can't or won’t yet go. Bound by no technical area or generative source, our programs interrogate unmapped opportunities across the full energy ecosystem. Our funding is predicated on the rigorous assessment of scientific merit and challenges of realization.

Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI) The Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI) invests in research and development to lower the cost of energy technologies, protect the private sector from financial risk, and help America build and sustain an integrated energy system that is reliable, resilient, and secure​.

​ Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) is committed to financing American energy and manufacturing projects that meaningfully contribute to U.S. energy security, grid reliability, and lowering costs for all Americans.

Under the Trump Administration, EDF empowers the private sector to invest in the future, help win the AI race, strengthen American industry, and restore American Energy Dominance. The Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) The Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) provides direct funding to Federal agencies through the Assisting Federal Facilities with Energy Conservation Technologies (AFFECT) program.

AFFECT offers grants for developing energy and water efficiency projects and processes at U.S. Federal government-owned facilities. The AFFECT program supports energy and water efficiency upgrades in Federal buildings through affordable solutions, public-private partnerships, and best practices.

Grid Deployment Office (GDO) The Grid Deployment Office (GDO) works to catalyze the development of new and upgraded electric infrastructure across the country by maintaining and investing in critical generation facilities; developing and upgrading high-capacity electric transmission lines nationwide; and deploying transmission and distribution infrastructure and technologies.

GDO acts as a partner with states, Tribes, territories, industry, communities, and other energy sector stakeholders to deploy solutions to lower energy costs and improve grid reliability and resilience. Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office (HGEO) The Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office (HGEO) is unleashing the full potential of America’s hydrocarbon and geothermal resources to provide affordable, reliable, and secure energy.

Through applied innovation and U.S. energy leadership, HGEO develops and advances breakthrough technologies that lower costs and power American prosperity, freedom, and human flourishing. By leveraging America’s hydrocarbon and geothermal resources, HGEO works to enhance reliable baseload power, strengthen grid reliability, and improve long-term energy security for communities nationwide.

Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs (IE) The Office of Indian Energy (IE) provides financial assistance on a competitive basis to develop and deploy energy infrastructure and technology, as well as a no-cost technical assistance program.

Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC) The Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC) is currently funding more than 375 projects focused on workforce training and manufacturing expansion. These efforts span batteries, grid components, critical minerals processing and recycling, energy generation, nuclear power, buildings and energy efficiency, transportation and industrial materials.

The Office of Science (SC) issues many announcements each year to solicit research proposals from colleges and universities, non-profit and for-profit research organizations, DOE’s national laboratories, small businesses, and other federal research organizations.

The Office of Science issues two types of funding announcements: Funding Opportunity Announcements, which may be open to one or more institution types (please read the eligibility requirements in a given FOA for details); and DOE National Laboratory Announcements, which are open only to DOE laboratories.
