Enhanced Wildlife Fencing Grants is sponsored by New Jersey Department of Agriculture (NJDA). This program provides cost-share grants for the installation of wildlife fencing on preserved and unpreserved farms in New Jersey. The grants can cover up to 50% of the costs, with a maximum of $50,000.

The following programs are currently open to new applications, proposals, and/or submissions: Animal Waste Management Plan Outreach, Development and Implementation Grant The purpose of this grant is to advance the continued implementation of the NJDA Animal Waste Management rules. There are limited resources to help farmers develop and implement AWMPs.

At this time, only NJDA staff are conducting technical assistance for AWMP development, while in the past external agencies, such as extension agents, played a role. An additional aspect of this grant is to assist with the cost of BMP installation — a major barrier to reducing Nonpoint Source (NPS) pollution on farms. NJDA is looking for a straightforward, cost-effective way to implement BMPs.

Any Soil Conservation District organized pursuant to N. J. S.

A. 4:24-1 et seq. , may apply.

An applicant need not be located in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, or Salem counties, but the activities to be funded through this grant must be directed at and used exclusively for the benefit of farms that are located in those counties. A grant award of up to $100,000 is available to accomplish activities over a 24-month period, with the opportunity to seek an extension of the period of performance.

gov USDA-AMS Specialty Crop Multi-State Program (SCMP) The New Jersey Department of Agriculture participates in the USDA Specialty Crop Multi-State Program to support collaborative multi-state partnerships seeking to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops through competitively funded projects. Entities residing in NJ must apply through NJDA. Entities residing in a participating state are ineligible to apply directly to AMS.

Entities in a non-participating state may apply to AMS directly or choose to contact NJDA if the project seeks to collaborate with New Jersey-based entities and/or looks to enhance the competitiveness of the New Jersey Specialty Crop industry.

All applicants must be domestic entities owned, operated, and located within the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the United States Virgin Islands, or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Multi-state partners must develop projects that bring together teams for solutions to practical problems that cross State boundaries and address the needs of specialty crop growers in the areas of food safety, plant pests and disease, research, crop-specific projects addressing common issues, and marketing and promotion. All project area types are 3-year projects with funding ranging between $250,000 and $1,000,000.

Wildlife Fence Cost-Share Program (Unpreserved Farms) The NJDA Wildlife Fencing Program makes cost-share funding available for the installation of wildlife fencing on unpreserved farms.

Unpreserved farm owners, operators, or tenants in New Jersey may receive up to 50 percent matching funds ($50,000 maximum) if their application is approved. The owner, operator, or lessee of a commercial farm that does not include preserved farmland, who meets each of the four following eligibility criteria: 1. The applicant’s farming operation must meet the definition of a “commercial farm” at N.

The applicant’s farming operation must have had a minimum of $10,000 in gross sales from agricultural or horticultural products grown or derived from the applicant’s farm operation as reflected in either personal or business Federal tax return forms; 3. The applicant must be willing and authorized to enter an agreement pursuant to N. J.

S. A. 4:20-6.

1. d(1), which imposes a requirement to maintain the land for eight years in agricultural or horticultural production, and other requirements, including an obligation to repay the grant on a pro rata basis if the land is not farmed for the full eight-year period; and 4.

If the applicant is a lessee (tenant) or operator who does not own the farmland, the applicant will need to provide written approval to install the fencing on the land from the owner of the land on which the fencing is to be installed. Such written approval is required at the time of application for a grant. Funding for projects up to $5,000 will be available to selected and approved applicants after April 1, 2025.

The NJDA is now accepting applications for WFCS Grants. There is no deadline to apply. Applications will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis until all available WFCS Grant funds are exhausted.

As awards will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, it is highly recommended that applicants submit their completed application using email to njdadeerfence@ag. nj. gov .

If an application is incomplete or missing any required documentation, the remaining WFCS Grant funds may be depleted by the time the applicant submits the required information. It is the applicant’s sole responsibility to ensure that their application is complete.

Gleaning Support Program funds to support gleaning activities may be requested from the NJDA by interested eligible nonprofit entities who are gleaning from New Jersey farms and distributing such gleaned food to New Jersey organizations to help feed New Jersey’s hungry.

Grant funds can be requested from NJDA by interested, eligible non-profit 501c3 entities that are either gleaning from New Jersey farms or recovering seafood from New Jersey sources and distributing such food to only New Jersey organizations that help feed New Jersey’s food insecure residents. The eligibility requirements are included in the application packet.

Please note: The applicant must be a non-profit, 501c3 entity formed and operated in New Jersey. A Letter of Determination from the IRS documenting non-profit status is required. The applicant must submit an implementation plan stating how a grant would support its gleaning / recovery program activities.

“Gleaning activities” include the active involvement in the hands-on work of harvesting surplus produce from farms, orchards, and gardens. Seafood Recovery Organizations: The applicant must be a non-profit 501c3 entity formed and operated in New Jersey. A Letter of Determination from the IRS documenting non-profit status is required.

The applicant must submit an implementation plan stating how a grant would support its seafood recovery program activities. “Seafood recovery activities” include the active involvement in the hands-on work of recovering surplus seafood from fisheries, docks, or markets. A total of $518,000 , subject to the availability of funds, is anticipated to be accessible to eligible non-profit applicant organizations.

nj. gov New Jersey Agritourism Grant Program (NJATP) The application period for the 2025 NJATP program has officially closed. Applications submitted to NJATP@ag.

The purpose of the New Jersey Agritourism Grant Program is to provide funding to support New Jersey agritourism businesses in their efforts to attract, entertain, and educate visitors. Agricultural entities operating in the State of New Jersey are eligible to apply for grant funding.

Eligible entities include: Non-Farm Brewery/Distillery/Wineries Other Agricultural Businesses that pursue funding to support eligible activities. A total of $5 million dollars ($5,000,000) available for funding through the NJATP. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture/New Jersey Wine Board awards grants for wine industry projects to address research, development, and promotion of the New Jersey Wine Industry. The NJ Wine Board will accept grant applications for projects benefiting the wine industry through research and development concerning the viticultural and wine-making processes in the State and for the promotion of the New Jersey Wine Industry.

Proposed projects must benefit the wine industry as a whole and funded project activities may not exclude any plenary and/or farm wine licensee whose sales of New Jersey wine contribute to the Wine Promotion Account and who wishes to participate. Expenditure and performance reports must be submitted at the end of the grant period. The available funds, to be used during grant period of 10/1/26 through 9/30/27, are equal to $421,911.

There are limited resources to help farmers implement AWMPs. A foundational component of AWMP implementation is nutrient management. Farms of any size are required to follow BMPs for the land application of manure.

However, many farms lack the equipment that is needed to efficiently and effectively transport and spread manure. This grant opportunity seeks to provide funding to bring critical tools to farms for the implementation of nutrient management BMPs.

The NJDA seeks applicants who are qualified to purchase and maintain a manure spreader and to establish a community use program for the manure spreader that includes supporting nutrient management BMPs in the community and among users of the manure spreader.

Applicants may be New Jersey-based: Not-for-profit organizations (NFPs), or; Applicants should have a strong working relationship with agricultural producers in their local community, and applicants will be required to ensure that AWMPs containing Nutrient Management Plans or nutrient budgets are developed (or updated) and implemented at a minimum of five farms at which the manure spreader will be used.

The Department has a total funding pool of $100,000 available for the award of individual grants of up to $25,000. Applicants must present their grant proposal by completing an application form, a copy of which is available on the program website or upon request by email sent to anr. grants@ag.

nj. gov . Program Webpage: NJDA Nutrient Management Assistance Grants Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program Please note: the application period for this program has closed.

Agricultural producers or processors or groups of producers/processors Nonprofit organizations operating middle-of-the-supply-chain activities Local government entities operating middle-of-the-supply-chain activities Tribal governments entities operating middle-of-the-supply-chain activities Institutions such as schools, universities or hospitals bringing producers together to establish cooperative or shared infrastructure or invest in equipment that will benefit multiple producers.

The NJDA was allotted a total of $3,437,002. 00 in program funding. There are two ways to apply for RFSI funding: Infrastructure Grant Application – Projects requesting more than $100,000 that intend to develop new, middle-of-supply-chain infrastructure for eligible agricultural products.

The USDA has defined a funding range of $100,000 - $3,000,000 per application, but it is important to consider that the NJDA intends to award our total allotted federal funding ($3,437,002) equitably across multiple industries and projects. Applications must provide a 50% match in funding, 25% if the applicant entity qualifies for a reduced match. See RFSI program scope and requirements for more information.

Simplified Equipment-Only Application – Projects requesting between $10,000 and $100,000 for equipment purchases related to middle-of-supply-chain activities. There is no match requirement for simplified equipment-only projects. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture (NJDA) requests applications for funding made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Marketing Service’s (AMS) Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP) to carry out projects that enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops.

For the purpose of this grant program, “specialty crops” are defined as: vegetables and fruits, including grapes for wine, nuts, horticultural products including Christmas trees, honey, herbs, potatoes, sweet corn, and other specialty crops, including algae.

Agricultural commodities which are not eligible for these grant funds include, but are not limited to: feed crops, food grains, seafood, livestock, dairy, and poultry products, including eggs, range grasses, and oilseed crops. Eligible applicants include organizations who submit projects that enhance the competitiveness of New Jersey Specialty Crops in either domestic or foreign markets.

Applications for grant funds should describe how the project potentially affects and produces measurable outcomes for the specialty crop industry and/or the public, rather than a single organization, institution, or individual. To strengthen the competitiveness of your application, single organizations, institutions, and individuals are encouraged to participate and apply as project partners. The NJDA received $1,023,883.

78 in program funding from the USDA-AMS to support eligible projects. Applicants may request up to $40,000 in grant funding. There is no cost-share or matching requirement for this program.

gov Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) Grant Program (2024-2026) Please note: The application period for this program has closed. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture is making grant funds available to counties and municipalities to battle the spotted lanternfly (SLF) for 2024-26. Interested counties and municipalities may apply to receive funds from the Department.

The Legislature has provided funding to the Department to reduce SLF populations and minimize their spread A total of up to $50,000 per county , and up to $20,000 per municipality , subject to the availability of funds, to be encumbered on a first-come, first-served basis, will be provided to reimburse for eligible costs incurred for SLF chemical treatment activities.

All interested county and municipal agencies must submit a new application to participate for 2024-2026 SLF treatment reimbursements. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture (NJDA) requests applications for the funding available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Marketing Service’s (AMS) Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP), and the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2021 (H. 133) to carry out projects that enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops. The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to build upon the SCBGP’s mission to enhance New Jersey’s specialty crop industry through our community of underserved farmers, including those who are Socially Disadvantaged, Beginning or Military Veteran farmers of Specialty Crops in the state of New Jersey.

Organizations must be majority-owned (51% or greater) by individuals who identify as either Socially-Disadvantaged ( including women ), Beginning, or Veteran Farmers. Eligibility will be determined by a self-certification process, outlined in the project profile template. nj. gov or (609) 913-6620 The State Agriculture Development Committee (SADC) leads in the preservation of New Jersey's farmland and promotes innovative approaches to maintaining the viability of agriculture.

The SADC administers the Farmland Preservation Program, providing grants to counties, municipalities and nonprofit groups to fund the purchase of development easements on farmland; directly purchasing farms and development easements from landowners; and offering grants to landowners in the program to fund up to 50 percent of the cost of soil and water conservation projects.

It also administers the Right to Farm Program, oversees the Transfer of Development Rights Bank, and operates the Farm Link Program, which helps connect farm owners with farmers seeking access to farmland and farming opportunities. The SADC consists of 11 members – six citizens appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate, and five ex-officio members.

Four of the citizen members must be actively engaged in farming, and the other two represent the general public. Below is a list of available grant opportunities offered through the SADC. For more information, please go to New Jersey Farmland Preservation Program .

American Farmland Trust - Farm Transition Support Grants As participants in the American Farmland Trust (AFT) Land Transfer Navigator (LTN) Program, the State Agriculture Development Committee (SADC) Next Generation Farmer Program team is able to refer preserved farmland owners, or those in the process of preserving their farms, to a $10,000 Farm Transition Support Grant.

This grant is available until June 2027 for professional services and equipment or infrastructure that directly support the transfer of a farm or access to land. Farmers interested in applying should reach out to the Next Gen team to discuss eligibility and project ideas. If a farm and project is eligible, staff can seek pre-approval from AFT, after which the farmer may submit an application.

gov Land Transfer Navigator (LTN) is a national program developed by AFT with support from USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), to increase the transfer of farmland and farm businesses to a new generation of producers. Soil and Water Conservation Grants The State Agriculture Development Committee (SADC) provides cost-sharing grants to landowners in the permanent or eight-year preservation programs to fund approved soil and water conservation projects. These projects not only protect soil and water resources, but increase productivity and profitability for the farmer.

Projects include terrace systems; diversions; water impoundment reservoirs; irrigation systems; sediment retention, erosion or water control systems; drainage systems; animal waste control facilities; and land shaping and grading. Wildlife Fence Cost-Share Grants - For Preserved Farms The SADC provides cost-share grants for the installation of wildlife fencing (high-tensile woven wire deer fencing, electric bear fencing, or other wildlife fencing) on permanently preserved farms to protect against crop losses. Applicants can receive a grant for up to 50 percent of the costs of materials and installation, not to exceed a total grant of $50,000.

The following programs are not offered by the NJDA directly, but are currently open to new applications, proposals, and/or submissions: American Farmland Trust - National Farm Viability Grant This opportunity is currently closed to new applicants.

The National Farm Viability Grant supports farmers and ranchers across the United States by providing direct financial assistance to strengthen operations and help farms and ranches remain resilient, viable, and well-positioned for the future. AFT seeks to support farmers and ranchers across America through the Brighter Future Fund.

Expanding on priorities established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Fund focuses its support on beginning, limited-resource, and veteran farmers and ranchers to support greater opportunities for all in agriculture. Application period will open from June 8 – June 18.

Up to $10,000 for eligible farms for projects that would do one or more of the following: Improve farm viability – Strengthen business, financial, or operational stability. Expand access to, transfer, or permanently protect farmland – Support farmland acquisition; pursuit of secure land tenure, land transfer or succession, or long-term land stewardship.

Advance regenerative ag practices – Advance regenerative or environmentally-beneficial farming practices (such as cover cropping, no-till or reduced-till, diverse rotations, or other soil-health-focused approaches), including innovative adoption or scaling of these practices.

Additional information that will be taken into consideration when making funding decisions include: Priority for individuals who dedicate a majority of their work time to farming or ranching; Diversity in farms as determined by the dollar value of farm products sold, acres in farming, and farm products grown, raised, or produced.

Projects that 1) Improve farm viability; 2) Access, transfer, or permanently protect farmland; or 3) Adopt regenerative agricultural practice For more information, please visit AFT Farm Viability Grant Program . 2026 Capacity Building Grant - Fulfill Fulfill’s 2026 Capacity Building Grant Program supports emergency food programs serving residents in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

The grant is designed to help organizations strengthen their operational and technical infrastructure so they can serve more people, provide more nutritious food, improve food safety, and operate more effectively. Funding is made possible through the State of New Jersey’s Food & Hunger Program. Eligible organizations providing emergency food assistance in Monmouth or Ocean County are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) public charity, an organization wholly owned by a public charity, or a faith-based organization serving individuals experiencing food insecurity or related hardship.

Per a State of New Jersey requirement for this grant, organizations that previously received an award through Fulfill’s FY2026 (July 1, 2025 -June 30, 2026) Capacity Building Grant Program are not eligible to receive an additional award under this funding opportunity. Eligible requests may include food purchases, infrastructure upgrades, technology, cold storage, food safety tools, equipment, and other capacity-building needs that improve an organization’s ability to serve neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

Community FoodBank of New Jersey – 2026 State of NJ Grant The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) invites organizations located in Atlantic, Bergen, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, and Union counties to submit proposals for capacity-building funding.

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to strengthen organizational capacity so that groups can increase the amount of food distributed to individuals and families in need in their communities. Both current partner agencies and organizations that are not currently partnered with CFBNJ are eligible to apply. Grant requests outside of these counties will not be considered.

Acceptable grant requests include but are not limited to: Equipment is intended to support food storage and distribution operations. \ The organization confirms it has the capacity to house, operate, and properly use the equipment in compliance with all applicable food safety and regulatory requirements.

The organization assumes full responsibility for all ongoing costs associated with the equipment, including utilities, routine maintenance, and repairs Supplemental Food Products Provide the number of individuals you anticipate serving with supplemental food products. Provide metrics that you will use to measure the impact of the supplemental products you plan to distribute.

Products must be US-produced, if possible; but if not produced domestically, can be purchased from non-US producers and/or vendors. A Q&A period will be held from July 20 – July 24. Before submitting your questions, we encourage you to review the full application.

To be eligible, applicants must: Be a 501(c)(3) public charity, an organization wholly owned by a public charity, or a faith‑based organization that serves individuals who are ill, food insecure, or otherwise in need. Operate programs that are mission‑aligned with hunger relief, food access, nutrition, or basic needs support. Be in good standing with state and federal regulatory bodies.

FY26 Capacity Investment Grant - Mercer Street Friends MSF invites proposals to expand food distribution, increase capacity to meet the need, advance choice-based models, and broaden services while increasing access to essential resources and promoting improved health outcomes, dignity, and food security across the community. MSF may fund grant applications partially or in full.

Please provide details on each component of your request in priority order. Three quotes are required for all requests. We will accept one application per organization.

MSF will administer grants to agencies in our service area, Mercer County. We will prioritize investments in cold storage (refrigeration and freezers) and operational equipment with goals of increasing the availability and distribution of fresh produce and nutrient-dense foods. We will also prioritize funding for food purchases.

This is a time-sensitive, competitive grant with a short spending period; all funds must be spent by September 30, 2026. Compelling proposals demonstrating the greatest potential for impact will be prioritized for funding. Applications require details for any purchases, including make, model and detailed specifications.
