The Phase I project focuses on developing and pilot-testing a functional prototype featuring LLM-powered video avatars that simulate realistic workplace scenarios. The platform includes role-based login for students and faculty, with two core scenarios for practicing career-readiness skills with AI video avatars that adapt dynamically to student responses.
Students receive real-time guidance during sessions and detailed post-session feedback. The instructor portal enables faculty to customize scenarios aligned with learning objectives and access analytics dashboards tracking individual and cohort performance, supporting evidence-based program improvements and personalized student support.
After development is complete, a pilot study will be conducted to examine whether the developed simulations increase college students' self-efficacy in their career-readiness skills, identify which features most effectively support skill development, and evaluate platform integration into existing career center and classroom workflows.
Data collection will include pre- and post-tests, focus groups and semi-structured interviews to gather in-depth perspectives, and observational checklists and log data documenting ease of integration and usage trends.
