(First payment of a $75,000 grant) Colorado Agrivoltaics $25,000 One-time grant to support the project entitled: Expanding Knowledge of Agrivoltaics. The organization will spread its innovative work advancing agriculture activities under solar arrays across the Western USA and help communities across the country learn how to make agricultural use of lands within existing solar arrays.

(First payment of a $50,000 grant) One-time grant to Pratt Institute as fiscal sponsor for the Coastal Wellbeing Project.

Believing that the current response by coastal cities to the ever-growing threat of flooding is flawed, the Coastal Wellbeing Project plans to employ its Wellbeing Design Principles to shift attitudes and to imbue the wellbeing of coastal ecosystems into the planning for climate change, thus creating a space for sustainable options to emerge.

The project will develop messaging, media strategies, case studies, and a suite of case-making tools to advance the systems change thinking that is needed. The project will work in three coastal cities while cultivating national relationships, attracting additional funding, and laying the groundwork to spread this approach beyond the initial cities.

(Final payment of a $60,000 grant originally made to the Full Frame Initiative) One-time grant to support the initiative “Protecting Wildlife from Light Pollution Caused by Digital Billboards.

” The organization will become the leading source of information on this issue by producing a series of science-based one-pagers targeted to key audiences and create an interactive map visualizing the overlap between billboard locations and ecologically sensitive areas, build a coalition of like-minded industries and educate public leaders on how to combat digital billboard proliferation and support wildlife-friendly lighting practices.

(First payment of a $50,000 grant) Sustainable Westchester $20,000 One-time grant to support the project entitled: The “Black Gold” Initiative: Turning Parking Lots into Power Plants. The “Black Gold” Initiative is a three-year plan to turn an overlooked suburban resource — paved parking lots, or “black gold” — into visible engines of clean energy, resilience, and community empowerment.

The “Black Gold” Initiative aims to set a national standard for accelerating solar adoption. Sustainable Westchester will document every step and develop a comprehensive toolkit – including practical guides and online resources – to enable replication across the country. (First payment of a $60,000 grant) One time grant to support the project entitled Amplifying Traditional Environmental Knowledge through Language Revitalization.

The grant will allow Wikitongues, in collaboration with Marine Conservation Without Borders, to support 7-10 early-stage, environmentally-grounded language projects that preserve, promote and amplify traditional ecological knowledge. (Final payment of a $75,000 grant) One-time grant to support the project entitled: Allies in Urban Conservation: Helping Homeowner Associations Become Pollinator Friendly.

A toolkit, video and technical support for HOAs to support pollinator conservation will be created and distributed. The toolkit will provide key educational information to help lead the changes in HOA rules around vegetation and pest management.
