Many organizations face barriers to funding and infrastructure, and fiscal sponsorship allows them to maximize their impact without the administrative burden of starting a nonprofit from scratch. Kansas City ranks as one of the most philanthropic cities per capita which suggests that AVAILABILITY of funding is strong, ACCESS to funding, particularly by community-based organizations, is the city’s challenge.
A UMKC report, The State of Kansas City’s Nonprofits , reveals: 79% of funding goes to just 84 of 2,600+ nonprofits with revenue over $50,000. Only 6% of all funding supports Arts & Culture, Environmental Quality, Mental Health, Crime Prevention, Homeless Shelters, Youth Development, and Civil Rights combined.
Community Capital Fund (CCF) is the Kansas City metro’s sole dedicated fiscal sponsorship practice , empowering mission-driven projects to maximize impact through financial and operational support.
Our fiscal sponsorship models Model A: Full Support Sponsorship: As a direct program model, the independent sponsored project shares a common corporate structure, tax exemption, and insurances, as well as staff and systems for managing finances, HR, legal, office space and other areas of back-office support with CCF. Model C: Pre-Grant Sponsorship As a pre-grant relationship model, Model C fiscal sponsorship provides an alternative to starting a nonprofit for mission-aligned, community development projects in the Greater Kansas City region. Charitable projects selected for this program are able to seek grants and tax-deductible donations without having their own 501(c)(3) status, thus increasing the capacity and impact of their projects.

Sponsored organizations or projects must serve communities within CCF’s service area in the Kansas City metro, with a specific focus on low-to-moderate income census tracks in Jackson, Clay, Platte, and Cass counties in Missouri, and Wyandotte, Johnson, and Leavenworth counties in Kansas.
Sponsored organizations or projects must have a core purpose that furthers the mission of CCF, provide an inclusive and direct benefit to communities within CCF’s service area, and work within at least one of eight impact areas: Celebration of Arts and Culture Environmental Stewardship Civic Engagement, Civil Rights, and Social Justice Education and Youth Development To learn more about the application process, email fiscal.
