Reducing the threat of climate change and the inequities it carries requires rapidly transitioning from the fossil fuels driving this climate disruption to clean, renewable energy. Advancing climate justice also requires acknowledging and redressing the policies and social structures responsible for disproportionate harm.

The Equitable and Just Energy Transition (EJET) Initiative is committed to facilitating an urban energy transition that eliminates carbon pollution while building power for low-wealth communities and communities of color and propelling racial and economic equity. The EJET Initiative supports more than 20 organizations working across the country.

This includes movement leaders, public-sector leaders, and technical partners working to define and advance the urban energy transition as well as organizations focused on elements of the transition—including building decarbonization and access to renewable energy—that are especially consequential for racial and economic equity.
