Ethics and Governance of Artificial Intelligence Fund is sponsored by John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Omidyar Network, Reid Hoffman, Hewlett Foundation, and others (administered by MIT Media Lab and Berkman Klein Center). This fund supports projects applying humanities, social sciences, and other disciplines to the development of ethical AI, both in the United States and internationally.
At CGI on September 23, 2026, Global Impact Ventures committed $100 million over three years across economic opportunity, health, education, climate resilience and humanitarian needs. There is no application portal. The access route is the intermediary infrastructure — fiscal sponsorship, grantmaking administration, and a 250-organization network.
