Extension Collaborative on Immunization Teaching & Engagement (EXCITE) is sponsored by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). This program aims to promote vaccine confidence and uptake, particularly in rural and medically underserved communities, by engaging Land-grant Universities and the Cooperative Extension System.

AGRICULTURE, DEPARTMENT OF Funds are provided for support the Extension Collaborative on Immunization Teaching & Engagement (EXCITE). Since 2021, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has partnered with NIFA and the Extension Foundation to provide adult immunization education via the EXCITE program. The goal is to promote vaccine confidence and uptake among rural adults.

Funds also support continuation of the H5N1 program, including updated materials and monthly system-wide updates. The Extension Foundation, working collaboratively with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy at the Association of Public and Land-grant Colleges and Universities, has the infrastructure and capacity to respond expeditiously and effectively to help address public health priorities.

To help promote vaccine confidence and uptake, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture have entered into an interagency agreement to engage Land-grant Universities (LGUs) and the Cooperative Extension System to improve vaccination coverage in rural and other medically needy communities.

AGRICULTURAL - AK Agricultural Resource Conservation and Development The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is entering into an Interagency Agreement with the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture using the provisions of the Economy Act, 31 U.S.C. 1535.

These funds were originally provided to CDC under the heading “Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC-Wide Activities and Program Support (including transfer of funds)” Subtitle B. , Section 313 (Public Awareness Campaign on the Importance of Vaccinations) of Division M (Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021) of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (P. The pandemic has led to disruptions in the food and agricultural supply chain, from field to production to distribution, and among the labor force in terms of lost wages, compromised health, and loss of life. New strains of the mutating virus are proving more readily transmissible and heightening concerns that vaccination efficacy could be negatively impacted.

The vaccine rollout has been hampered by logistical and jurisdictional concerns, leading to confusion among the general population about how, when, where, and why to receive the vaccination.

Specific Restrictions Determined at NOFO Level You may not use grant funds awarded under this authority to renovate or refurbish research, education, or extension space; purchase or install fixed equipment in such space; or the plan, repair, rehabilitate, acquire, or construction of buildings or facilities. Indirect cost is allowed for the award and sub awards.

Applicants may request full indirect costs, subject to statutory limitations. In order to do so, the applicant must use the current negotiated indirect cost rate established by its cognizant Federal agency (the agency that provides the most funds). If awarded, the applicant will be required to produce a negotiated indirect cost rate agreement from the cognizant agency in order to recover indirect costs.

If unable to obtain a negotiated rate from its cognizant agency, the applicant is not permitted indirect cost reimbursement. Rather, the applicant may only be reimbursed for allowable direct costs. Violation of cost accounting principles is not permitted when re- budgeting or charging costs to awards.

Rather, costs must be consistently charged as either indirect or direct costs. Deadline determined at as part of the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) Preapplication coordination is not applicable. Environmental impact information is not required for this program.
