Exterior Repair Program is sponsored by Louisville Metro Government. Provides grants to low-to-moderate income homeowners in specific Louisville neighborhoods to address exterior code violations and safety concerns.

Community Development & Home Repair | Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville Building Homes, Communities, and Hope Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville launched its Community Development & Repair (CDR) Program in 2016 to expand its impact and deepen its commitment to underserved neighborhoods.

CDR helps preserve affordable, owner-occupied housing through three core pillars: critical home repairs, Homeowner Education/DIY workshops, and support for resident-led neighborhood revitalization initiatives.

By combining Habitat’s flagship homebuilding program with the services offered through CDR, the organization strengthens families and neighborhoods—connecting homeowners to essential resources that make communities safer, healthier, and more sustainable. We help owner-occupied homes stay safe and stable by repairing essential systems like roofs, HVAC, windows, doors, ramps and more. or 502-292-6160 through Metro United Way.

Neighborhood Revitalization Our “Love Your Neighborhood” initiative brings residents and volunteers together for projects like alley and street clean-ups, and neighborhood beautification efforts. Offering hands-on and classroom-style workshops that help homeowners build skills to maintain their homes, improve safety, and save on repair and utility costs.

Our Critical Home Repair program helps low-income homeowners stay safe, stable, and housed by addressing essential repairs that impact health, safety, and accessibility. This project is funded in part by the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government through its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). In 2025, we completed 158 critical home repairs.

Types of Repairs We Provide: New roofs, gutters, and siding Mechanical repairs and replacements (furnace, A/C, water heater) Replacement of windows and exterior doors Accessibility modifications, such as porch repairs, grab bars, and ramp installations Plumbing and Sewerline Repairs: toilet replacement, clogged or broken lines Eligibility Requirements: Home must be owner-occupied and the applicant’s only property Property taxes must be current or in an active payment plan To Apply for a Home Repair: Call 211 or 502-292-6160 through Metro United Way Annual Maintenance Calendar Other Community Resources Neighborhood Revitalization Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville partners with residents, neighborhood leaders, and local organizations to strengthen entire blocks and improve quality of life.

Our approach is asset-based and resident-led — grounded in the belief that every community deserves to thrive, regardless of zip code. Through our “Love Your Neighborhood” event, we listen to residents, identify shared priorities, and support projects that reflect the community’s vision. This includes beautification efforts, alley and street clean-ups, park improvements, and home repairs.

Beyond “Love Your Neighborhood,” residents work year-round to address vacant properties, enhance safety, and strengthen neighborhood communication. By working alongside neighbors—not just “for” them—Habitat helps build long-term stability, preserve affordability, and support the pride and connection that make each Louisville neighborhood unique.

Homeowner Education/DIY Workshops The Homeowner Education and DIY Series offers hands-on and classroom-style workshops that equip homeowners with practical guidance, skills, and knowledge to care for and protect their homes.

Participants gain confidence, improve their abilities, save money on repairs and utilities, and benefit from a program that continues to grow with new topics each year. Hands-On Home Maintenance: Covers practical skills for interior and exterior upkeep, weatherization, and basic plumbing. Demonstration Workshops: Focus on understanding home systems such as electrical, furnace, and other mechanical components.

Presentation-Style Education : Includes financial health for homeowners, hiring contractors safely, understanding insurance, estate planning (Will, Living Will, Power of Attorney), protecting your home from predatory offers, and disaster preparedness.
