Freeman Foundation Awards 11 FACES Grants The Carl M. Freeman Foundation recently announced grant awards for 11 County nonprofit organizations and schools through the FACES (Freeman Foundation Assists Communities with Extra Support) Grant Program. The FACES program supports small organizations that provide grassroots services to the community.

The FACES program utilizes an advisory board composed entirely of citizens who live or work in Montgomery County. Advisory board members include community leaders, business professionals, students, and nonprofit ambassadors. Advisory board members evaluate the applications and recommend where funding should be awarded based on the needs and priorities of the community.

The 11 nonprofits receiving a grant are American Muslim Senior Society, Arts for the Aging, Carles Koiner Center for Urban Farming, Community FarmShare, Court Watch Montgomery, Devon C. Rubenstein Foundation, Gaithersburg Beloved Community Initiative, Gaithersburg HELP, Leveling the Playing Field, Spanish-Speaking Community of Maryland, and Voices for Children Montgomery.

FACES Montgomery provides a total award fund of $100,000, which allows grantees to receive $10,000, $5,000, or $2,500 grants. The projects these grants will fund serve a wide array of needs in Montgomery County including support to those with food insecurity, young people suffering from mental health challenges, foster children, and many more issues that Montgomery Countians face.

These volunteers are familiar with the needs of the community and where the funds can best be used and leveraged to support Montgomery County. ” The Carl M.
