Mississippi INBRE has officially opened the application window for two of its premier funding vehicles: the Project Development Grant (PDG) and the Research Initiation Grant (RIG) . This year’s cycle marks a new chapter for the organization with the appointment of Tristan Clemons as Program Coordinator.
In his new role, Clemons is prioritizing accessibility, overseeing a redesigned application process intended to reduce administrative hurdles for Mississippi faculty. A Focus on Research Competitiveness Mandatory Letter of Intent (LOI) To ensure a streamlined experience, all interested applicants must first submit a mandatory Letter of Intent (LOI) .
This initial phase is intentionally "non-burdensome," serving as a preliminary check to align projects with grant objectives. The deadline for the LOI is February 15, 2026 . To complete the LOI, applicants must provide: NIH-Formatted Biosketch: A standard record of professional accomplishments.
Specific Aims Page: A one-page document outlining the project's goals in NIH style. Mentor Identification: Selection of a research mentor to support the project’s trajectory. Faculty members are encouraged to review the full eligibility requirements and submission portal online.
