Fall Community Action Grants Program

Fall Community Action Grants Program is sponsored by Parkersburg Area Community Foundation. This program supports nonprofit organizations and public institutions within an 11-county area in West Virginia and Washington County, Ohio. Grants are awarded for projects in arts, education, health, and community development.

Literacy initiatives within these broader categories could be considered.

Current Grant Opportunities: Fall Community Action Grants Program The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation and Regional Affiliates works to meet the needs of the communities that it serves through its Community Action Grants Program, a competitive grant application process.

The Foundation's Community Action Grants Program serves ten West Virginia counties (Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Jackson, Mason, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt, and Wood) and Washington County, Ohio. Community Action Grants are not made outside of the service region.

The Fund for Ravenswood Grant Program is a competitive grant application process through which the Fund for Ravenswood of the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation awards grants twice a year.

To be eligible for this grant, an applicant must be a private, nonprofit organization tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or a public institution, and must be located in Ravenswood or must directly benefit residents in Ravenswood.

The Fund for Ravenswood Grant Program follows the same guidelines as the PACF Community Action Grant process , with one exception - organizations may apply to the Fund for Ravenswood each cycle, even if they have received an award in the previous grant cycle.

Within those guidelines, the Fund for Ravenswood prioritizes projects in five broad areas of life: Quality of Life Improvement; Vibrant Economy-Downtown Support; Healthy Lifestyles; Public Safety; Workplace Readiness. Application Open: July 15 Application Deadline: September 15 GrantED (Education Mini Grant) The goal of GrantED is to support teachers and take learning experiences to new levels.

Application Opens: September 1 Application Deadline: June 1, or until funds have been expended Maximum Request Amount: $3000 There is no limit on the number of applications from individual schools. Limited to one application per teacher/staff member per year. Teachers, librarians, nurses, administrators, and counselors are eligible, but all applications must support education.

Limited to the public school system at this time. To apply, teachers who have not previously applied for a grant from the PACF must email Maribeth Saleem-Tanner at maribeth. saleem-tanner@pacfwv.

Special and Urgent Needs (SUN) Grants SUN grants (up to $4,000) help organizations in the PACF's 11-county service area with non-budgeted, unforeseen, and time-sensitive emergencies or opportunities that arise from time to time and for which a quick response regarding Foundation support is necessary. SUN grants can only be made to nonprofit organizations and can not provide support to individuals.

To begin the process of applying for a SUN grant, contact the Foundation’s Senior Program Officer, Maribeth Saleem-Tanner, at 304-428-4438 or by e-mail . Foundation staff will provide you with an access code to the PACF's online Grant Application Portal in order to complete the grant application. Creating a plan is the first step for any project.

Proclaimers Gospel Quartet Fund for Christian Youth Grants The Proclaimers Gospel Quartet Fund for Christian Youth in Memory of Harold E. Board provides support for Christian youth and Christian youth groups in need of financial assistance in order to attend or participate in Christian service-related events.

Grants may be made, for example, for attendance at Christian camps or for participation in educational events or church or community service activities.

Application Open: January 15 Application Deadline: June 1, or until funds have been expended Ruth Hornbrook Memorial Fund Grants for Humane Societies The Ruth Hornbrook Memorial Fund provides support for humane societies in West Virginia, with particular emphasis on supporting the needs of new humane societies.

Grants have been made from this fund to support projects such as humane education programs, shelter construction and renovation, and the purchase of equipment. Grants typically range in size from $500 - $3,000. The fund does not provide support for spay/neuter programs.

PM Company's Spirit of Giving Applying organizations must be a recognized 501(C)(3) group serving the vulnerable and underserved populations in Wood County, WV, and/or Washington County, OH, where the PM Company primarily does business. Organizations that have previously applied for a grant through the PACF can simply log-in to access the Spirit of Giving application.
