Buckner Family Pathways® staff help program participants apply for and obtain childcare services assistance for subsidized childcare in a qualified and licensed facility. Do I have to go to school full time/year round?

Can I work full time as well? Yes. A core requirement of the Buckner Family Pathways® program is full-time school enrollment, year-round (fall, spring, and summer semesters).

Up to part-time employment (20 hours weekly) can be obtained/retained while taking classes full time, so long as the employment does not interfere with the participants’ educational goals and other program requirements. Do I have to file for child support to be considered for the Family Pathways program?

The requirement of legally filing for child support is in place to ensure that a program participant will qualify for all government assistance programs. The potential of the added income of child support also lessens the need to work while being in school full time. Will I qualify if I attend an online or for-profit university?

All accredited higher education institutions will be considered, however, for-profit institutions often require more financial aid than is available to successfully complete a desired degree without extreme amounts of debt. Buckner Family Pathways® staff may assist participants in locating nonprofit institutions with better pricing and larger rates of credit hour transfers. How do I apply or get more information?

What services do residents receive? Residents and their children are offered a safe place to live; counseling services; training in parenting skills, money management, communication skills, and conflict resolution; spiritual enrichment; and mentorship. How is your program unique?

Other programs might offer housing or education, but we offer a total package of affordable housing, childcare, case management, spiritual enrichment, and client assistance. We provide all the tools single parents need to succeed. Why do you focus on single-parent families?
