Collective Initiatives – FACTOR The Collective Initiatives program is comprised of four components which, singly or in combination, help finance music industry events, showcases, productions, and festivals which have a collective benefit to the Canadian music industry. Every event or initiative funded under this program must be collective in nature. Projects cannot predominantly benefit any one artist or enterprise.
Successful projects will create new market development results for Canadian artists or music entrepreneurs. components for this program: Showcase Production for Export-Ready Artists Showcase Production for Artists from Official Language Minority Communities Canadian corporations, associations and non-profit organizations with an approved applicant profile can apply.
New applicants must submit a one-page Letter of Intent at least 6 months before project start date to determine eligibility. If the letter of intent is approved, the applicant must have an approved applicant profile in order to apply.
May 14, 2026, 5:00pm ET for events occurring between August 1 and November 30, 2026 Festival Support component only: June 11, 2026, 5:00pm ET for festivals occurring between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027 September 10, 2026 , 5:00pm ET for events occurring between December 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027 January 14, 2027, 5:00pm ET for events occurring between April 1 and July 31, 2027 May 6, 2027, 5:00pm ET for events occurring between August 1 and December 31, 2027 FACTOR will contribute a percentage of the total eligible budget (see below) up to an annual or project maximum.
Generally, 50% of the offer is paid when the offer is accepted, and the remainder on final completion. Industry events: 50% of total eligible budget up to $200,000 per fiscal year for industry events Showcase production for artists from official language minority communities: 75% of total eligible budget up to $100,000. Showcase production for export-ready artists: 50% of total eligible budget.
Festival Support : 50% of the total eligible budget. The amount of funding provided shall be proportionate to the scope, reach, and impact of the project and is subject to the availability of funds. FACTOR staff assess the eligibility of the projects and costs and make a recommendation to the Board of Directors for their approval.
