A powerful glimpse into the Van Almen family’s journey with pediatric cancer and the moments that led to the founding of The inVINCEable Foundation. Pediatric cancer remains the #1 cause of death by disease in children. The overall survival rate for childhood cancer is 85%.

It’s an evening filled with connection, purpose, and the power of collective generosity raising essential support for families navigating childhood cancer. Vince Van Almen spending time during his own treatment with an InVINCEable family at UNC Children's Hospital. We don't believe in 'Fighting' cancer.
Instead, we focus on using our 5 Pillars to help the families that we serve navigate through the fear, uncertainty and doubt of a cancer journey. We let the doctors use protocols and science to 'fight' the cancer while we focus on maintaining a positive mindset by using these pillars as our guide. Living out these values is a daily choice, and with a community like ours, it’s a choice families don’t have to make alone.
Each family receives $4,000 to $6,000 in direct support , which can be divided into two parts: The Present covers a critical, ongoing bill like a mortgage or car payment. This relieves immediate stress and allows families to focus on their child, not their finances. The Future invests $2,000 into a college savings account for the child.
If one doesn’t exist yet, we help the family open it and make the first deposit. Learn about the intimate impact that we have on the families that we serve. We’re a unique charity that goes far beyond financial assistance.

NCI Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) Academic Career Excellence (ACE) Award (K32) is a grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) that funds early postdoctoral fellows from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups, to pursue research training in cancer-related fields. The K32 award supports fellows within 12 months prior to transitioning into, or within the first two years of, a postdoctoral position. The program, operated through NCI's Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD), aims to enhance the pool of qualified diverse cancer researchers. Beginning with the June 12, 2025 due date, the CURE ACE Award is available in both Independent Clinical Trial Required and Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed versions. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents at time of award.
