The Sanborn Foundation - Providing financial assistance to Arlington MA residents affected by cancer since 1998 How can the Sanborn Foundation help me? The Sanborn Foundation helps Arlington Massachusetts residents pay for expenses related to their cancer care and treatment. Since its inception, the Foundation has granted over $5,000,000 and helped hundreds of your friends and neighbors.

If you are an Arlington Massachusetts resident and have a letter from your medical provider verifying a cancer diagnosis, you are eligible to apply for a grant. Funded by a grant from the Sanborn Foundation, the Arlington Council on Aging Transportation Program provides rides for Sanborn recipients of any age to cancer-related medical appointments. Learn more about arranging for a ride or escort to your medical appointments.

“Our first impulse was that we wouldn’t qualify, but she kept urging us to look into it. I am so glad we did. ” Sanborn’s financial support has included counseling to help the couple better handle the stress of a child’s cancer and tutoring assistance for Elise, who as a result did not need to repeat the year of school she missed during treatment.

“Sanborn was amazing. They had our back and made it simple to get the financial support we needed,” says Tintocalis. “Finances do not need to be stressful during this incredibly stressful time.

The money to help Arlington residents living with cancer has been set aside. Embrace the support that is offered. ” Soon after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, Amy Yelin learned about Sanborn from another Thompson School mom.

Sanborn’s support has included all of Amy’s out-of-pocket expenses and co-pays, wigs and supplies related to lymphedema. “The finances involved in living with cancer are challenging and Sanborn’s help has given me enormous peace of mind. ” Complications from Mark Sandman ’s leukemia diagnosis require him to take one medication that costs him about $600 per month, after insurance.

“When I first heard of Sanborn, it sounded too good to be true. The support has been a lifesaver. I had to retire after my diagnosis but have not needed to delve into retirement funds to cover all my expenses because of Sanborn.

This support improves the quality of my day-to-day life. It is such a blessing. ” A hospital social worker told Carol Bell about Sanborn following her diagnosis of rectal cancer in 2017.

The Foundation has covered co-payments, transportation and parking to medical appointments, and prescriptions. “With a cancer diagnosis, I know too well the stresses and challenges of cancer. Without Sanborn I would be struggling financially, but they helped to alleviate the enormous stress I had.

I wasn’t able to work during treatment, so knowing I could count on them was extremely helpful. ” An acupuncturist at Dana Farber first told Christine Anastos about Sanborn during her treatment for breast cancer. “I’ve been more willing to try acupuncture, meditation, and other holistic therapies because of Sanborn’s financial assistance.

” Because of the help she’s received from Sanborn, Christine was able to help fund an appearance in Boston by environmental activist Erin Brockovich. “It’s my way of giving back all that Sanborn has done for me. ” The Sanborn Foundation uses an easy, online program to process applications and maintain individual recipient accounts.

I cannot tell you how much of a relief this grant was for my mom and our family; it helped ease her final days. We hope you continue this valuable service to help patients and their families through difficult times. The Sanborn Foundation has helped me greatly during a long treatment period.

It’s been a whirlwind year – two rounds of chemotherapy/immunotherapy, two surgeries and then radiation, during which the COVID19 outbreak occurred. But the Sanborn Foundation has been so helpful with medical bills and other expenses. I just wanted to reach out and say how grateful I am for all that you have done.
