Through strategic grantmaking, we support nonprofit organizations advancing financial literacy, education, and health and wellness. We proudly award grants to qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations serving the communities where we live and work. What To Know Before You Apply Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed on a quarterly basis.
To give your request the best opportunity for consideration, we encourage you to submit your application at least 90 days before funding is needed. Before you begin, please note that applications cannot be saved and completed later. We recommend gathering all required materials in advance and drafting your responses in a separate document before entering them into the online application.

When can we apply for Foundation grants throughout the year? Applications are accepted quarterly. We highly encourage submitting at least 90 days in advance of your funding needs.
Deadlines can be found on the Grant application. Grant awards are announced approximately 60 days following each quarterly deadline. What types of organizations and counties qualify for grant funding?
Organizations must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and support recipients located in counties served by 3Rivers: Adams, Allen, Auglaize, DeKalb, Delaware, Hancock, Madison, Noble, Steuben, Union, Wayne, Wells, and/or Whitley. Organizations do not need an account with 3Rivers to apply. Can organizations reapply if not selected in a previous cycle?
Yes, if an organization did not receive funding, they may reapply in the subsequent quarterly cycle . If an organization did receive funding, they may be eligible to reapply one year after funding. Can organizations share grant award news publicly?
What organizations are NOT funded? We do not fund the following: General Operations, Capital Campaigns, Event Sponsorships, Political Campaigns, and Religious Organizations (with exceptions). Grant request should be for a specific program with qualitative and quantitative results.
Does the Foundation fund religious organizations? The 3Rivers Foundation may support programs offered by religious organizations when those programs are open to everyone, regardless of religious affiliation. To be eligible for funding, charitable services must remain separate from religious instruction or worship, and participation in prayer, worship, or statements of belief cannot be required.
