The Flint Hills Community Fund # Dyslexia & Reading Programs # The Emporia Community Foundation (ECF) Mission of the Flint Hills Community Fund: A portion of the annual distributions of the Flint Hills Community Fund will be used to provide support for: funding research or programs for students diagnosed with dyslexia or reading challenges.

Grants awarded annually for the distributions will be to applicants in the following counties in this order: Chase (2026), Greenwood (2027)**, Lyon (2028), Morris (2029), Butler (2030) and Marion (2031) Counties.

Overall Criteria: The Flint Hills Community Fund primarily considers specific individual projects that will make a difference in the improvement in lives of children diagnosed with dyslexia or other reading difficulties in the designated counties. The ECF is pro-actively seeking out opportunities toward the mission of the fund. The committee also considers collaboration with other funds in determining recommendations.

1. The grants do not support other fundraising projects. 2.

The grants do not support entities that have taxing authority except for specific one-time special projects that are innovative and above the basic services provided by those entities. 3. The grants do not support annual drives or repetitive grants.

4. The grants are not available for individuals. 5.

The grants are not available for funding personnel positions or operating expenses. 6. Projects with a high degree of volunteerism will receive extra credit.

7. The grants do not fund multiple year grants or pledges. 8.

Matches in dollars and/or volunteer hours are good, but not mandatory. 9. Strong consideration will be given to organizations that want to expand their operations; however, already have sufficient operating income and/or other funds.
