Through the Device Loaner Program, eligible residents in select Florida counties can receive a device plus three years of internet service. Florida Connect is a Device Loaner Program by the Figgers Foundation, created to bridge the digital divide in underserved Florida communities. If you don't see what you're looking for, our support team is here to help. What is the Florida Connect Program? The Florida Connect Program is a digital access initiative by the Figgers Foundation that provides eligible participants with tablets and connectivity to help bridge the digital divide.
Who is eligible to apply? Eligibility requirements are based on the criteria outlined in the program application and may include income guidelines or qualifying program participation. What devices are provided?
Eligible participants will receive a tablet device equipped with connectivity to support digital access. How long does the program last? Devices and connectivity are provided through a program lease period of up to three years.
Applications are completed online through the Florida Connect application portal. What should I do if my tablet stops working or becomes defective? Participants can contact the Figgers Foundation Customer Care team for troubleshooting assistance or device support.
Are the tablets filtered for student safety? Yes. Tablets issued to minors comply with CIPA filtering requirements.
Parents or guardians may also apply additional parental controls during setup. What happens if a device is sold or transferred during the program period? All devices are tracked through the Figgers Foundation asset management system and can be remotely locked if necessary.
Who can pick up tablets during distribution events? A designated school representative, parent, guardian, or caseworker may pick up devices on behalf of students when necessary. Students who are 18 years old at time of pickup, or senior citizens may pick up themselves.
Will the tablets work in rural areas? Each tablet includes up to three years of 5G cellular data service. Connectivity may vary depending on local network coverage.
What if a student lives in an area with weak connectivity? Connectivity concerns may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Are there guidelines for device care and responsible use?
The Figgers Foundation provides device care and responsible use guidelines to ensure devices remain functional and safe throughout the program. Can a participant receive more than one device? No. Each approved participant may receive one device through the program.
What happens if a participant moves to another county? Participants may continue using their device if they move, provided they remain within the program service area and comply with program guidelines. What happens if the device is lost or stolen?
Participants should report lost or stolen devices to the Figgers Foundation Customer Care team. Each case will be reviewed individually through the program’s asset management system. Is the device owned by the participant?
Devices remain part of the Florida Connect Program during the lease period. Participants may receive guidance regarding device retention after the program ends. Can devices be used for schoolwork and personal use?
Yes. Devices may be used for educational, informational, and general personal use provided they are used responsibly. Can schools monitor the device?
No. Schools do not monitor individual devices. However, devices issued to minors comply with federal internet safety standards. Who should districts contact if they have program questions?
District representatives may contact the Figgers Foundation program team for assistance. Do participants need internet at home? No. Each tablet includes cellular connectivity so participants can access the internet without needing home broadband.
How many participants will be selected? The program expects to serve approximately 12,000 to 15,000 participants during the enrollment period. What happens after the three-year period?
Details regarding device ownership or continued service after the program period will be communicated to participants at a later time. What happens if a participant passes away or becomes unable to use the device? If a participant passes away or becomes unable to use the device, the family or guardian should notify the Figgers Foundation Customer Care team for guidance on next steps.
Device Care & Responsible Use To ensure every participant benefits from the Florida Connect Program, we ask that all devices be used responsibly and cared for properly. The following guidelines help protect your device and keep the program running smoothly for everyone. The tablet is provided for educational and personal development use.
Participants are responsible for keeping the device safe. Devices should be used responsibly and respectfully. Keep the tablet in a safe place when not in use.
Avoid liquids, extreme heat, and physical damage. Use a protective case when possible. Charge the device using the provided charger.
Devices issued to minors follow federal CIPA internet safety requirements. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor usage. Additional parental controls can be applied during setup.
If your device becomes damaged or stops working, contact the Customer Care team. The program will review each situation individually. Technical defects should be reported to the Figgers Foundation Customer Care team.
Damage caused by misuse or neglect may not qualify for replacement. The program may limit the number of repairs or replacements. Illegal activity or unlawful use.
Harassment or cyberbullying. Unauthorized resale or transfer of the device. Attempting to tamper with device security or tracking systems.
All devices are registered through the program asset management system. Devices may be tracked or remotely locked if misuse or unauthorized transfer occurs. Participant Responsibility Participants are responsible for taking reasonable care of the device.
