Food Desert Energy Efficiency Equity Program Food Desert Energy Efficiency Equity Program The SoCalREN Food Desert Energy Efficiency Equity (FDEEE) Program is transforming small businesses in hard-to-reach and undeserved communities by helping them save energy and expand access to fresh, healthy food.
Tailored for corner stores, bodegas and small grocers, this innovative program provides no-cost energy upgrades—including efficient refrigeration, lighting, and water heating systems.
No cost energy-efficient installation Average bill savings of 20% Support from the Business Energy Advisor Program Services delivered by in-community partners The FDEEE Program serves corner stores, small restaurants, and small grocers in underserved communities located within Southern California Edison (SCE) and/or Southern California Gas (SoCalGas) service territories, including businesses on tribal lands and businesses owned by members of tribal nations.
This program is funded by California utility ratepayers and administered by the California Public Utilities Commission, making all upgrades and services completely free to participants. Building Stronger, Healthier Communities The FDEEE Program goes beyond energy savings. Every service is directed toward hard-to-reach businesses, with a focus on low-income, low-access, and disadvantaged areas.
