Help with the cost of living: Crisis and Resilience Fund | Essex County Council Help with the cost of living Get support with bills including energy, broadband and food costs. Crisis and Resilience Fund The Crisis and Resilience Fund replaces the Household Support Fund, which was funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
The Household Support Fund enabled us to provide vital practical support to households between 2021 and 2026. It closed on 31 March 2026. The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) is funded by UK Government.
It provides support for low-income families and individuals in financial hardship. There are two types of payments that residents can apply for. These are: crisis payments for those facing urgent financial difficulty housing payments for those in temporary difficulty Everyone that receives funding will also be offered guidance and support to help them build financial resilience.
You may be eligible for a crisis payment if you are on a low-income and are facing unexpected expenses or a sudden drop in earnings. The payment can be used to help pay for general household expenses. Crisis payments are being administered by Southend City Council on behalf of Essex County Council.
When applying, you will need to answer questions about your income, earnings and savings. You will also need to give proof of your financial situation. Visit the Southend City Council website to find out more and to apply for a crisis payment .
Housing payments can cover the shortfall between housing benefits and actual housing costs. It only covers temporary shortfalls, not long term difficulties. To apply for a housing payment, you must also be receiving Housing Benefits.
