Foundational Healing Grants is sponsored by Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions (VETS). VETS provides funding, coaching, and resources for veterans and their spouses seeking treatment with psychedelic-assisted therapies for conditions like TBI and PTSD. Grant recipients participate in scientific research to contribute to the knowledge of these therapies.

Foundational Healing Grants | VETS Foundational Healing Grants Empowering veterans since 2019 Since 2019, VETS has provided grants for more than 1,200 veterans and their spouses to receive psychedelic-assisted therapy treatment, as well as preparation and integration coaching and ongoing community support. What is Foundational Healing? Treating the root causes of health issues Psychedelic therapy is not a miracle cure.

Instead, psychedelic therapy can provide a foundation for ongoing psychological and neurological recovery. Through its Foundational Healing Grants, VETS provides funding, coaching, and additional resources for veterans and their spouses seeking treatment with psychedelic-assisted therapies.

VETS supports treatment and research with these science-backed psychedelic therapy modalities: VETS is committed to ensuring maximum potential for success for veterans seeking transformative, holistic health solutions. Expert-led preparation and integration are key to setting the intentions which lead to meaningful changes after treatment.

Each Foundational Healing Grant recipient receives: Weekly meditation classes Access to VETS Community Platform Grant funding for psychedelic-assisted therapy Five individual preparation and integration coaching sessions Group integration coaching for veterans and spouses Ongoing access to community support network All Foundational Healing Grant recipients participate in scientific research to contribute to existing knowledge of the safety and efficacy of psychedelic-assisted therapies.

At VETS, we recognize the urgent need for effective treatments for veterans facing the challenges of post-service life, including TBI, PTSD, and related conditions. We also understand the courage it takes to seek support, and we’re grateful for every veteran who reaches out. Following the release of the documentary film In Waves and War, demand for our Foundational Healing Grant Program is at an all-time high.

To serve those already on our waitlist responsibly, new applications are temporarily paused while we work through equitable reviews. The reality is, we can only fund a small percentage of grant requests—not only due to overwhelming demand, but also because we’re committed to ensuring every veteran we serve receives the highest quality care.

Availability of trusted treatment providers, current staffing capacity, and limited funds all play a role in how many grants we’re able to offer each year. While we remain committed to funding access to psychedelic-assisted therapy for as many veterans as possible, our mission goes far beyond individual grants .

Through legislative advocacy for practical policy change, facilitating groundbreaking research, and building public awareness, we are working to expand access for all veterans. Join the Healing Grant Interest List Veteran applies online for a Healing Grant Accepted, Denied, or Future Consideration Applicant receives an email stating acceptance, denial, or future consideration. If the veteran meets the eligibility criteria and is chosen to proceed in the VETS pipeline, they will receive a welcome email with instructions to complete the grant plan.

Someone from VETS will reach out to discuss and help applicants complete the grant plan. Complete VETS e-course, choose your psychedelic therapy and retreat, discuss scheduling. Introduced to an Integrated Coach and Veteran Mentor Upon signing, the grantee will be introduced to their integration coach and a veteran mentor, usually within 24 hours.

VETS provides five one-on-one coaching sessions in addition to weekly group coaching. In certain situations, more individual sessions may be necessary and available upon request. Funding is disbursed to the grantee 2-3 weeks prior to the scheduled retreat date, either by mailed check or ACH transfer.

The grantee is responsible for handling payment with the retreat center and must use the funds for their intended purpose as detailed in the funding contract. The grantee is cleared to schedule travel at this time. The grantee will work directly with the retreat center staff for all treatment and travel logistics.

Continue with Your Integration OPPORTUNITIES FOR WEEKLY YOGA, MEDITATION, COMMUNITY SUPPORT Grantee is given access to the VETS Community Platform and is invited to attend weekly group coaching sessions. Additional community support options such as meditation teachings, yoga, peer support training, quarterly offerings, and in-person gatherings are available to VETS grant recipients.
