Respite care exists to help the caregiver. It is designed to help pALS in need of care-giving assistance. Only individuals with a confirmed medical diagnosis of ALS are eligible for this grant.

An applicant will only receive one grant. Payment will be made directly to your chosen health care provider. This grant is available nationwide.

This grant can ONLY be used for respite care costs incurred on or after the grant award date. There are four rounds of application periods: September 15 – October 15 ALS Ride For Life will select a limited number of applications through a random drawing on: May 1, August 1, November 1 and February 1 A PALS or CAREGIVER may apply Please make only one application each quarter, duplicates will be discarded.

Caregiver Grant Application The application is closed at this time. It will reopen from September 15 through October 15. I want to thank you so much for your support and assistance.

I just got the letter that I received a grant for respite care for my wife Denise. She was diagnosed with ALS in 2020 and was actually progressing slow enough to have some independence until last year. Now, the disease is taking its toll, and I need near-full-time help during the week caring for my wife.

This grant goes a long way towards the help so I (we) can continue to care for my Denise as she makes her journey. Thank you for your support. This is an incredibly draining disease, and any respite care is truly appreciated.

I hope we can find a cure for this disease eventually so no one else has to go through what we are going thru. But having organizations such as yourself is a godsend for us in the meanwhile.

Hello Marilyn and the team at ALS Ride For Life, I wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to you for not only the financial support/assistance that we’ve just received, but much more importantly for the impact that you make on a daily basis to families who are living with ALS.

Unfortunately, you know the struggle, but rather than let it defeat you, you took the unfortunate situation and made it into a fortunate situation… selflessly. I applaud your courage and admire all of your determination. It’s organizations like ALS Ride For Life that keeps hope alive for the future assistance which is much needed, but ultimately a cure!

Wishing you all continued success in all that you do for families who are lucky to have you. Sent utilizing my eye-Pad I would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to you and ALS Ride For Life for providing us with caregiver grant money that couldn’t have come at a better time. It was such a relief too when we received that Grant Approval Letter from ALS Ride For Life.

Since my wife (Martha) was diagnosed with ALS in July, 2023, I have been her primary caregiver. Having been in this role for a year, I can tell you Caregiving is very demanding especially when caring for someone with ALS. It has taken a toll on both of us both physically and emotionally.

Martha and I have shed many tears through this journey and continue to do so. One of the few emotional uplifting experiences during this journey was getting the Grant Approval Letter from ALS Ride For Life. Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support!

I wish to thank all of the people at ALS RFL for their kindness, care, and dedication that you have shown my wife, Ellen, and I, in giving us a grant for respite care. I have had ALS for almost 7 years. Your generosity, in the form of this grant, has allowed me to secure more time with my aid to help me with my daily needs.

As importantly, it has consequently, given Ellen more time to rest from the all-consuming tasks of being my main caregiver. She is a tremendous help to me so much so that she constantly put my needs above her own. She needed some well-deserved time off but we knew the expense of having someone cover for her in her absence would be great. Thanks to the ALS Ride for Life respite care grant she was able to take time off for personal business and I was able to use the grant to pay for the professional home care I needed in her absence.

Organizations like this are a true blessing. It helps ease the financial burden that caring for someone with ALS puts on a family. Thank you so much for your generosity and hard work.
