United Way Funding Application | United Way of Northwest Alabama United Way Funding Application All applicants are required to have or create an account to complete and submit your application. Keep your username and password handy so that you can "save a draft" and return to complete your submission. Also, this username and password will continue to be used for agency reporting and future applications.

United Way of Northwest Alabama is committed to collaborative solutions for a healthy, thriving community.
United Way seeks to implement strategies to achieve system changes with measurable results for three fundamental areas: education, health, economic mobility (formerly referred to as financial stability). These system changes will be achieved through program funding, organizational support, advocacy, and convening the community to address critical issues.
Funding for grants provided through this APPLICATION process comes from donations from community members and local businesses. Programs must demonstrate results through outcome attainment as well as fiduciary responsibility.
APPLICATIONS must clearly focus on outcome-based programs that address the issues defined in one of United Way’s identified Impact Goals: Improve access to mental health Increase literacy by 4th grade Improve access to healthcare Improve mental health among children and youth Improve financial skills for adults Increase access to transportation Increase access to affordable, low-income housing Applications will be considered for funding based on the following: Impact on Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, and/or Marion Counties Opportunities for Collaboration with other Organizations Ability to secure other funding Measurable Outcomes/Results Correlates to the mission of the United Way of Northwest Alabama Current Campaign Year allocation dollars raised All applications must be complete with all requested information submitted by the application deadline (Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 4:00 pm).
Late applications will not be considered for funding. A panel of community members evaluate and assess each funding application using the criteria outlined in the application guidelines. The community members will be selected for their expertise in community issue areas and will represent a diversity of interests and professional experiences.
United Way may enter into negotiations with potentially successful applicants and may require significant modifications to the original application. Prior to approval by the board of directors, some applicants may be required to submit additional information or amendments. The funding allocated through the United Way of Northwest Alabama for 2025 will begin on July 1, 2025, and end on June 30, 2026.
All organizations receiving funding must adhere to United Way of Northwest Alabama's Standards of Affiliation and Financial Reporting Requirements. Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of funding. United Way of Northwest Alabama funds and supports high-quality programs that address identified health and human service needs.
Activities must provide direct and demonstrable results that are valued by the community.

Innovation Grant is a grant from the Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation that funds nonprofit organizations pursuing unique, high-impact projects that improve health and wellness in Arizona communities. Up to $1,000,000 in total funding is available for the FY27 cycle (July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027). Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofits serving Athens-Clarke County residents. The application deadline was November 24, 2025, with final funding decisions by the Mayor and Commission in April 2026.
California State Nonprofit Security Grant Program (CSNSGP) is a grant from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services that funds target hardening and security enhancements for nonprofit organizations at high risk for violent attacks and hate crimes due to their ideology, beliefs, or mission. Awards of up to $200,000 per organization are available, with $76 million allocated in the latest funding round. Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations operating in California. Funded activities include physical security improvements and vulnerability assessments to protect against threats. The program requires applicants to complete a Vulnerability Assessment Worksheet as part of the application process. Support services applicants had an extended deadline of January 12, 2026.
