gov.** The USDA Forest Service**State Fire Capacity (SFC) Wildfire Hazard Mitigation**priorities are consistent with the goals of the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy (https://forestsandrangelands. gov/strategy/thestrategy. shtml), specifically as listed below.
1. **Restore and Maintain Landscapes**: Landscapes across all jurisdictions are resilient to fire-related disturbances, in accordance with management objectives. 2.
**Create Fire Adapted Communities**: Human populations and infrastructure can withstand a wildfire without loss of life or property. Additionally, SFC priorities reflect the national USFS priorities of improving the condition of forests, and grasslands, promoting shared stewardship by increasing partnerships and volunteerism, and by being good neighbors and providing excellent customer service.
SFC Wildfire Hazard Mitigation application activities should clearly focus on identifying and creating fire adapted communities by: • Reducing hazardous fuels in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) • Developing, and implementing Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) • Providing prevention and mitigation education, and/or • By achieving Fire Adapted Community and Firewise programming and other community hazard mitigation activities.

Through this NOFO, IPT’s Invasive Species program aims to support projects that advance tangible improvements in invasive species prevention by utilizing existing research knowledge on invasive species risks and pathways to produce actionable outcomes that protect American agriculture from invasive species. For example, past and current research has built important pre-invasion knowledge of problematic pests, such as through horizon scanning and monitoring ex-patria sentinel trees. We invite proposals that build upon and directly link this type of invasive species scientific knowledge to make improvements in regulatory frameworks, policies, and actions that will decrease new arrivals and establishment of invasive pests. The intent of the National Urban and Community Forestry Challenge Cost Share grant program is to advance solutions to the economic, health, and environmental challenges faced by communities. This year’s program focuses on advancing community tree resource utilization, which can reduce waste and create value by turning wood generated from pruning, removals, storm events, and pest or disease outbreaks into useful products. These products may include lumber, slabs, furniture, flooring, biochar, or other materials that strengthen local economies, reduce disposal costs, and improve community resilience. The program seeks practical, creative, and replicable projects that help communities establish or expand wood‑utilization efforts. Competitive proposals will demonstrate how the project supports existing community forestry plans, applies industry‑recognized safety and tree‑care standards, and delivers clear economic, environmental, or workforce benefits. Projects should outline anticipated wood products, partnerships with professional or industry organizations, and opportunities for job creation, training, or certification. This program is intended for communities and their partners seeking to improve the management and use of their urban and community forests. Eligible applicants include state, local, and tribal governments, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and other community‑based partners.
