Business Development Grants FY27 Business Development Grant applications due Friday, September 11! Learn more and apply. Business Development Grants Through our partnership with the Minority Business Alliance of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, these grants award $5,000 to multiple local small businesses each year to help empower and sustain local entrepreneurs.

*Based on the United Way of Greater Charlottesville 2025-2026 Business Development Grant program data Through this partnership, we hope to stimulate and support small businesses located in the Greater Charlottesville community. One barrier to success for small businesses is lack of affordable capital, which this program provides to recipients. Since 2019, this partnership has awarded over $150,000 in grants to local small businesses.
Businesses can use grant funds for equipment acquisition, inventory, and operating expenses, including business promotion. Past grant recipient and owner of The Tax Ladies, LLC, Libby Edwards-Allbaugh, shared that, “This sort of infrastructure is what helps a … business grow. It helps level the playing field.
”
