Mental Health Awareness Training Grants (MHAT) is sponsored by Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The purpose of this program is to train individuals, including emergency services personnel (fire department and law enforcement personnel), to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental disorders and how to safely de-escalate crisis situations.
