POLK COUNTY—Gateway Wellness Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2025 Annual Grant Cycle, awarding over $500,000 in funding to community organizations working to improve health, wellness, and quality of life in Polk and surrounding counties.
This year’s awards reflect Gateway’s commitment to advancing health equity and addressing the social determinants of health, with a focus on access to nutritious food, safe housing, healthcare, and opportunities for economic stability. “At Gateway, we believe thriving communities leverage strong partnerships,” said Joshua Kennedy, President of Gateway Wellness Foundation.
“Each of these organizations is doing vital and collaborative work to meet local needs and remove barriers to wellness. We are honored to invest in their missions and the communities they serve. ” Funding was awarded through a competitive grant process open to nonprofit organizations serving Polk, Burke, McDowell, and Rutherford counties.
Applicants demonstrated measurable community impact and alignment with Gateway’s vision of improving health outcomes through innovation, collaboration, and compassion.
Grant recipients serving Polk County include Henderson County and Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity, Higher Academia Corporation, Isothermal Community College, Lake Lure Classical Academy, Share Thy Bread, Steps to Hope, Sunny View Elementary School, Synergy In Action, Inc., the Sunny View Clubhouse, YMCA of Greater Spartanburg, and many others. A total of $118,950 was awarded in Polk County.
Since its founding, Gateway has distributed over $3,010,460 in grants and community investments to strengthen the region’s health and well-being through 166 different organizations and multiple sectors.
