GEDA Small Grants 2026–2027: Apply for Up to USD $15,000 to Advance Gender and Environment Data for Climate Action - Opportunities for Youth GEDA Small Grants 2026–2027: Apply for Up to USD $15,000 to Advance Gender and Environment Data for Climate Action GEDA Small Grants applications for the 2026–2027 funding cycle are now open, offering organizations an opportunity to secure grants of up to USD $15,000 to support innovative projects at the intersection of gender equality, environmental sustainability, climate action, and data-driven research .

Through the Gender and Environment Data Alliance (GEDA), this initiative aims to strengthen the collection, analysis, and application of gender-environment data while promoting inclusive, evidence-based climate policies and empowering locally led, feminist, and community-driven solutions.

Successful organizations will not only receive financial support but will also have the opportunity to participate in the GEDA Data Fellowship , a six-month capacity-building program designed to enhance skills in data collection, analysis, research communication, and policy advocacy.

Together, the grant and fellowship provide a unique platform for organizations to amplify their impact, influence climate and environmental decision-making, and contribute to more equitable and gender-responsive environmental governance worldwide. What is the GEDA Small Grants Program?

The Gender and Environment Data Alliance (GEDA) is an international initiative dedicated to improving the availability, accessibility, understanding, and use of high-quality data at the intersection of gender equality and environmental sustainability . Improve access to gender and environmental data. Identify important knowledge gaps.

Strengthen evidence-based climate and environmental policymaking. Promote gender-just approaches to environmental governance. Support locally led and feminist research methodologies.

Elevate underrepresented voices in climate and environmental decision-making. Through the 2026–2027 Small Grants Program, GEDA aims to support organizations that can generate meaningful knowledge and practical solutions for climate and environmental challenges affecting diverse communities worldwide. For the 2026–2027 funding cycle, GEDA will award at least eight (8) grants .

Each selected organization will receive: Funding between USD $10,000 and USD $15,000 Grant disbursement beginning in September/October 2026 Project implementation period of up to one year Activities concluding by October 2027 The funding is intended to directly support projects involving gender-environment data production, research, analysis, dissemination, advocacy, and capacity development.

GEDA Small Grants Program Objectives The grants are designed to contribute to two major objectives: 1. Strengthen Gender-Transformative Climate Action Projects should contribute toward: Better environmental and climate policies Stronger financing decisions Inclusive planning processes Evidence-based decision-making through improved gender-environment data. 2.

Amplify Marginalized Voices GEDA seeks projects that: Support excluded communities Promote feminist research Encourage participatory methodologies Build locally owned knowledge Increase visibility of community-generated evidence This reflects GEDA’s commitment to equitable and inclusive climate governance. What Types of Projects Will Be Supported?

GEDA welcomes a wide range of innovative projects centered on gender and environmental data. Household data collection Gender-focused climate assessments Indigenous knowledge documentation Quantitative or qualitative research Projects are encouraged to adopt participatory and locally led approaches.

Gender impact assessments Climate vulnerability studies Environmental justice research Organizations may also use the funding to: Develop learning materials Build institutional data capacity Produce training modules on feminist data methodologies Advocacy and Knowledge Dissemination Public awareness campaigns Creative communication approaches Publishing research findings Disseminating existing evidence Encouraging wider use of gender-environment data Importantly, projects do not have to generate new datasets to qualify.

Existing research may be strengthened, synthesized, or translated into practical resources for policymakers and practitioners. While projects covering any gender-environment topic are welcome, GEDA has identified several priority areas connected to the recently adopted Belém Gender Action Plan (GAP) under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Health in the context of gender and climate change Gender-based violence linked to climate change Care work and climate change However, projects outside these themes remain fully eligible for funding. Every funded organization will have the opportunity to nominate up to two individuals to participate in the prestigious GEDA Data Fellowship .

The fellowship is delivered by Data4Change and includes: Six months of structured learning Peer learning opportunities Practical training in data analysis Communication skills development Audience-specific storytelling Development of advocacy materials The fellowship is intended to strengthen each organization’s ability to transform research into impactful communication that supports policy change and advocacy goals.

The 2026–2027 funding round has a significant emphasis on the Indo-Pacific region . Six grants are reserved for projects within the Indo-Pacific focusing on the intersection of: Two grants are open to all eligible GEDA members globally, although organizations based in the Global South will receive preference.

Eligible Countries in the Indo-Pacific Priority Window Eligible Indo-Pacific countries include: Federated States of Micronesia Applicants must meet the following conditions: Be a GEDA Member, Core Partner, or Data Advisory Group (DAG) member. Organizations in the Indo-Pacific that are not currently GEDA members may also apply and will be invited to join GEDA if selected.

DAG members may partner with organizations that are not currently GEDA members. Steering Committee members may apply but must recuse themselves from the selection process. Preference will be given to organizations or consultancy firms based in the Global South.

Projects implemented at the local or national level are strongly encouraged. Expectations for Successful Grantees Organizations selected for funding will be expected to: Participate in informal bi-monthly check-in meetings with the GEDA Secretariat. Submit a brief narrative report at the end of the project.

Submit a basic financial report upon project completion. Complete reporting by October 2027 using templates provided by GEDA. Applications must be submitted through the official Airtable application form , with a Microsoft Word version available for accessibility.
