Independent Medical Education Request for Proposals - Spinal Muscular Atrophy Due to our 2023 year-end close process, the Genentech Funding Request System will stop accepting charitable requests at 12:00AM PT, Friday, November 24 and will reopen for requests on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
This temporary closure affects Health, Patient, and Science Focused Giving, Education Focused Giving Graduate and Post-Graduate, Education Focused Giving K-12, and Community Giving. Independent Medical Education and the Independent Co-Payment Assistance Foundation will continue to accept requests during this time. The Genentech Foundation will only accept solicited requests during this time.
It is important to note the Genentech Funding Request System cannot accept requests less than 60 days prior to the event/program start date. Therefore, we will be unable to accept charitable contribution requests for an event or program occurring before March 2, 2024. Pending requests with event/program dates beginning in January 2024 or beyond may receive final decisions in the new year.

By addressing unjust barriers that have prevented all patients, but especially patients of color, from benefiting equally from groundbreaking medical advances, the Innovation Fund is an important way that Genentech is advancing its ambitious Diversity & Inclusion goals.
The Innovation Fund prioritizes support for teams who have firsthand experience with the equity barriers their work addresses and can demonstrate principles of justice, diversity, equity and inclusion in their proposals. Since launching the Fund, Genentech has awarded $38 million to 89 grantees nationwide. We intend to award an additional $10 million to 10+ grantee partners through a fourth round of funding in 2024.
This will bring our total Innovation Fund investments to nearly $50 million in 100+ grantees since 2019. NBNA Scholarship Program is a grant from National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) providing scholarships starting at $1,000 to nursing students at all levels, from LPN to Doctorate. Open to active NBNA members currently enrolled in accredited nursing programs with at least one year of schooling remaining. Over 32 scholarships totaling more than $68,000 were awarded in 2020, and over $150,000 has been distributed to PhD candidates to date. Awards are presented annually at the NBNA Institute and Conference. The 2025-2026 program cycle is currently open. Applicants must be members of a local NBNA chapter.
NCI Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) Academic Career Excellence (ACE) Award (K32) is a grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) that funds early postdoctoral fellows from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups, to pursue research training in cancer-related fields. The K32 award supports fellows within 12 months prior to transitioning into, or within the first two years of, a postdoctoral position. The program, operated through NCI's Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD), aims to enhance the pool of qualified diverse cancer researchers.
