General Grants — Spencer Educational Foundation Spencer’s goal to help build a talent pipeline of Risk Management and Insurance professionals is achieved in part by our collaboration with Risk Management and Insurance educators across the United States and Canada. Since 2010, Spencer has awarded over $4.
5 million in General Grants to support over 225 student-centered experiential learning initiatives at universities and RMI non-profit orgs. 2026 Application Opens: May 1, 2026 2026 Application Deadline: July 30, 2026 General Grant awardees are typically notified at the end of October.
Proposals will be considered from educational organizations (public and private) as well as eligible tax-exempt organizations under Section 501(c)3 and 501 (c) 6 of the Internal Revenue Code.
As to the latter (tax-exempt organizations), prior awardees were able to successfully demonstrate risk management and insurance (RMI) content acumen (e.g., programming, competitions, etc.) coupled with a strong connection to RMI College/University offerings (e.g., RMI minor/major) and career pathing (e.g., RMI internships and/or full-time roles). Spencer does not accept proposals from for-profit organizations.
*To be eligible, universities/colleges and tax-exempt organizations must be based in the United States or Canada. All requests must fall into the following two critical branches: Provide experiential learning opportunities for Risk Management and Insurance students; and/or Attract new talent to the Risk Management and Insurance industry.
