This commitment began 20 years ago when Californians approved Proposition 71, setting aside $3 billion to establish CIRM as the first state agency dedicated to advancing stem cell research and therapies. By laying the groundwork for cutting-edge innovation, CIRM became a key player in driving progress in the field. In 2020, California voters reaffirmed their support through Proposition 14, providing an additional $5.
5 billion to continue CIRM’s mission.
