Get Moving Grant - Parks | seattle. gov Labor Day closures / Burn Ban info Labor Day: Many Seattle Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7 , in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
What's open and what's closed? Burn Ban: The Stage 2 burn ban is still in effect, per the King County Fire Marshal . All outdoor fires, including recreational and ceremonial fires, are currently prohibited.
Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) and the Seattle Municipal Park District is pleased to announce the 2026 Get Moving Grant. Community members, organizations, community groups, and small businesses can apply to receive up to $15,000 to provide recreation programming throughout Seattle. This is a reimbursement program; funds will be reimbursed after the completion of the program and submission of all required documentation and invoice.
Get Moving Grant projects must : Take place in the city of Seattle. Provide recreation classes, projects, programs, or events to underserved communities. Must be free to the public.
Must activate at Big Day of Play. Small businesses working within the identified neighborhoods* Non-profit and Not-for-profit organizations* *Small businesses and non-profits must be under $150,000 in revenue.
Application Dates and Timeline January 13, 2026 – application window opens at 8:00AM PST February 10, 2026 – application window closes at 11:59PM PST Community Panel Review: February – March Award Announcements: Late March – Early April Projects Take Place: May 1 – December 6 All projects must be completed by December 6, 2026. Funds are only for the calendar year and cannot be carried over into the next year.

Free Health and Wellness Classes When community centers reopened post-pandemic, these classes for all ages provide regular outlets for fun, fitness and togetherness at four community centers in Seattle. All classes are drop-in. Advance registration is not available.

The Seattle Park District -Funded Get Moving Fund supports local nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and community groups in offering innovative and culturally relevant events and/or projects to increase participation in community sports, recreation and physical fitness activities that serve under-resourced communities (such as immigrant populations, people of color, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ etc.).
The goal of the Get Moving Fund is to increase participation and opportunities for physical activities, prioritizing neighborhoods and communities afflicted by health disparities. Several strategic goals support the cornerstones of the Get Moving Initiative, which can be summarized by the topics of Resources, Access, Opportunity and Equity.
The result is a mix of programs and funding that support the Initiative's vision: to ensure that people from communities and neighborhoods afflicted by health disparities are accessing and participating in Seattle Parks and Recreation's equitably distributed health and fitness programs.
