Digital Inclusion Fund sponsored by GFiber - Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville Digital Inclusion Fund sponsored by GFiber In partnership with GFiber, the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville launched the Digital Inclusion Fund in 2018 to support digital inclusion efforts in the City of Huntsville.

This grant program provides funding to organizations that are preparing students for technology careers, supporting workforce development, and teaching people to use information and communication technologies to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information. The Digital Inclusion Fund awarded seven grants to nonprofits supporting digital inclusion in the City of Huntsville. These grants totaled $45,000.

EQUIPPING THE FUTURE - $7,500 The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama will open a new Club in August 2025, serving up to 2,000 youth annually. This project will provide computers to ensure youth have access to digital learning tools, homework assistance , STEM activities, and career exploration resources.

By expanding access to technology, the initiative aims to close the digital divide and promote academic success for underserved youth in North Huntsville. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR CAREER READINESS - $5,000 His Way Recovery Center will enhance its recovery programming by providing residents with the digital and professional skills necessary to pursue meaningful employment and achieve sustainable independence.

The project will incorporate career readiness into the recovery process through technology access, hands-on coaching, and structured training. Building on past GED program success, this initiative will expand services to include resume writing, digital communication, interview preparation, and platform certifications, equipping participants to re-enter the workforce with confidence and dignity.

DIGITAL BRIDGE: CLOSING THE INTERNET DIVIDE - $7,500 Huntsville City Schools will implement a hotspot lending program to support students without reliable internet access at home. The project will provide content-filtered hotspots compatible exclusively with school-issued devices, ensuring safe, education-focused use.

This initiative seeks to bridge the digital divide and keep students connected and engaged in learning beyond the classroom. iDRUM DIGITALLY RESPONSIBLE UNSTOPPABLE MUSICIANS PHASE 4 - $5,000 Huntsville Community Drumline will continue its iD. R.

U. M (Digitally Responsible Unstoppable Musicians) initiative, which offers free music and video production and digital literacy training to youth and adults. Participants receive hands-on instruction in a state-of-the-art studio led by a professional multi-platinum music producer.

Phase 4 of the project will include studio upgrades and the addition of a new recording space, expanding equitable access to digital tools and enhancing opportunities for creative expression and career readiness. PODCAST STUDIO - $5,000. 00 Huntsville Learning Center will expand its digital inclusion efforts through a newly established Podcast Studio designed to support underserved students.

The studio will provide access to modern technology for academic development, creative expression, and career exploration. Students will build digital literacy, communication, and workforce skills through podcast creation, video production, and multimedia projects. EMPOWERING FAMILIES THROUGH DIGITAL ACCESS AND LITERACY - $7,500.

00 The National Children’s Advocacy Center will increase digital access for young families participating in its child abuse prevention programming . The project will provide tablets with mobile internet and a desktop computer for use in the Healthy Families program.

These tools will support access to essential services such as Medicaid, employment applications, and school enrollment, while also facilitating parenting education and digital skill development. With guidance from prevention staff, parents will build confidence in navigating online resources to support their families’ well-being. STREETS TO SUCCESS WORKFORCE RE-ENTRY EMPLOYMENT AND STEM COMPUTER LAB - $7,500.

00 Rose of Sharon, Inc. will expand digital access for Huntsville’s homeless and underserved populations by establishing an eight-station computer lab within its holistic care model. The Workforce Re-entry Employment and STEM Computer Lab will support the organization’s HUD-aligned Creating Employment Pathways initiative and Continuum of Care Network participation.

The lab will serve the Streets-to-Success (S2S) employment re-entry program and offer digital literacy, job readiness, and educational resources, empowering participants to pursue employment, housing, and long-term self-sufficiency.
