Indigenous Green Jobs Initiative Why this project excited us: The Indigenous Green Jobs Initiative will create green job pathways for Montana’s eight tribal nations. This grant creates the first policy-grade living wage reference for an urban living wage in Colombia, grounded in primary data and local validation, unlocking a durable public good that will inform wage-setting, corporate practice, and social dialogue for years.

Climate Smart Agriculture Training and Livelihoods Hub (Phase 2) Why this project excited us: CAP YEI’s dual-sector training model uniquely blends climate-smart agriculture and hospitality, significantly raising income for rural youth and farmers . CAP-YEI is developing an agricultural cooperative, locally called a SACCO, where they provide training, shared facilities, credit access and products such as fertilizers and seeds.

They are working closely with county government leadership to leverage public investments and TVET facilities to expand support for local people seeking training in both agriculture and hospitality with promising results for both so far. This network partnership positions this pilot for rapid multi-state replication.

Why this project excited us: CFK Africa’s TechCraft project equips youth in informal settlements with tech skills and gig economy access through a Business Process Outsourcing hub in Kibera. Serving 6,000 trained youth, it aims for 75% to secure paid freelance work and at least 50% to transition to full-time jobs, boosting economic mobility for themselves and their families. The first year will enroll 200 youth.

Replication Support Kenya This project expands access to higher education and formal employment for low-income youth in Kenya, many from rural households earning less than $2 a day. The ISA model enables students to train with no upfront costs and repay only once they secure jobs, creating pathways into formal sectors such as hospitality, ICT, and health.

Early results show fivefold income gains, with graduates earning $186 per month compared to baseline household incomes of $37, and projections reaching $385 within five years. By linking education finance directly to employment and income growth, Chancen offers a scalable, outcome-driven solution that supports lasting economic mobility for excluded youth who would otherwise remain confined to unstable, low-wage informal work.

REACHing for Green: Scalable Union and College Pathways to Economic Mobility Why this project excited us: Chicago Scholars Foundation, through its REACHing for Green initiative, is merging union apprenticeships, vocational skill-building, and green-degree pathways into one seamless platform.

Serving 5,000 users nationally, they aim to place more than 150 individuals in apprenticeships and 300 in internships, with union roles averaging $65,000+ within five years. This hybrid model, combining hands-on training with AI-powered career guidance, unlocks every pathway to the green economy for under-resourced communities nationwide.

Expanding Access to Careers in Wind Why this project excited us: Clean Power Institute is creating a scalable pathway into wind energy careers for marginalized communities in New Mexico, home to the nation’s largest wind project.
