Giving Circle Philadelphia - Women's Connection Home Control Panel Custom Pages PHL GC About Us 2025 The Giving Circle is the philanthropic arm of Women's Connection Philadelphia. We are a dedicated group of individuals who collaborate to support our mission to improve the lives of women and children in Philadelphia.

Passionate about making a difference, Giving Circle donors not only pool giving dollars, but also conduct educational programs and other initiatives to raise awareness of the challenges facing Philadelphia’s women and children. Each year, through our annual grants review process, we come together to learn about and identify deserving nonprofits that could benefit from our grant support.

Once a year, in May, all the donors who have contributed $200 or more in the prior year vote to select the nonprofit(s) that will be awarded our annual grant(s). Giving Circle members believe that this method of collective philanthropy increases the impact of each dollar given.

Including our 2025 grants (awarded May 2025), the Giving Circle of Women's Connection Philadelphia will have awarded over than $500,000 in grants and donations to Philadelphia nonprofits since awarding our first grant in 2013. Such is the POWER OF COLLECTIVE GIVING. T he mission of the Giving Circle is to improve the lives of women and children in Philadelphia.

Giving Circle donors pool dollars, make grants to nonprofit organizations and conduct educational programs and other initiatives to raise awareness of the significant needs in our city. We are passionate about making a difference, nurturing relationships with the organizations we support and engaging with our fellow donors to build a better community. Our values are based on our mission.

Our Giving Circle actively works to increase the scope and diversity of our grant applicants. We believe that organizations that prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion create safe environments that respect and value individuals, and are uniquely suited to address the needs of the communities to which they are dedicated.

Inclusive organizations foster cultures that reduce bias and make decisions better able to address systemic inequities. We are committed to equity, diversity, collaboration, inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability. In awarding our grants we adhere to the tenets of trust-based philanthropy , valuing and respecting the expertise of the nonprofits in our community.

We are a welcoming community of like-minded, friendly, and committed women, who believe in the mission of improving the lives of underserved women and children in Philadelphia. We offer the opportunity to participate in various committees, volunteer activities, educational forums, and social gatherings. We relish the joy and happiness that comes not from giving to others.

Our Giving Circle is overseen by dedicated Giving Circle members. The Executive Council defines the Giving Circle’s vision, strategic direction, its general management and operations. Executive Council members lead various committees that you may find of interest.

Women's Connection (formerly The Transition Network) was founded in New York City in 2000 by two extraordinary women, Christine Millen and Charlotte Frank, who sought to create a movement through which women could reimagine the so-called “retirement" years.

Today, Women's Connection currently has fifteen chapters and over 3,000 members around the country and the Philadelphia Chapter is the only one that offers the philanthropic opportunity of a Giving Circle. The purpose of the Women's Connection Network is to enrich and empower women through information, support and activities that members can engage in together. In other words, most of Women’s Connection activities are social in nature.

Our Giving Circle can be social as well, but the mission of the Giving Circle is philanthropic in nature. Members of our Giving Circle are women who have made a financial contribution to our mission, which is to improve the lives of women and children in Philadelphia. Do you have to be a member of Women's Connection to join the Giving Circle?

No. Members of Women’s Connection PHL are encouraged to join our Giving Circle and Giving Circle donors are encouraged to become members of Women’s Connection PHL. You can do one or the other or both. About two thirds of the participants in our Giving Circle are members of Women’s Connection PHL and one third are not.

But, the bottom line is that our Giving Circle, like all giving circles, works towards enriching the lives of others and, along the way, we enrich ourselves. Women's Connection Philadelphia Chapter Women’s Connection of Philadelphia is the only WC chapter that has a philanthropic arm, and we are proud to be part of this amazing organization.

The Philadelphia Women’s Connection community is comprised of smart, creative, engaging women seeking new friendships, opportunities for engagement, resources and experiences. As mentioned above, many Philadelphia Women’s Connection members belong to both, although you do not have to be a member of Women's Connection to be part of our Giving Circle. Both organizations are run independently.
