Global Gateway Grant: For Faculty: International Resources: IU Global: Indiana University Support for activities at our Global Gateways The Global Gateway Grant provides support of up to $5,000 for activities – such as workshops, symposia, public talks, and artistic performances – that take place at one or more of IU's Global Gateway offices in Accra , Bangkok , Berlin , Mexico City , and New Delhi .
Permanent, full-time academic appointees at any IU campus. Nov 1 and Mar 1. Please submit proposals at least twelve weeks in advance of the event date.
IU Global Gateway Grants may be used to support travel and accommodation for IU and non-IU individuals participating in the gateway activity, and other associated costs such as catering. Funding is for events taking place at a Gateway facility. Alternative venues within the Gateway city may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
All proposals for funding should address how the activity will further international collaborative research, creative activity, or institutional development initiatives. Preference will be given to applications that involve collaborative activities likely to be sustained and enhanced in the future. We encourage proposals that build on existing IU institutional partnerships .
Interested faculty are required to first consult with the appropriate Gateway Academic Director to discuss the proposed activity and determine feasibility. The narrative statement should be no more than two pages in length and should include the following: A brief overview of your proposed activity, clearly stating your goals. Details of participating individuals from IU and external institutions.
Please include the roles each of these participants will play in the activity. The benefits of hosting the activity at the Gateway Anticipated outcomes (e.g., in terms of furthering collaborative research).
Valid expenses may include (but are not limited to): Honoraria (excluding IU faculty and staff) International wire transfer fees The budget should include subtotals for each category of expenses, and details of matching funds (if any). A recommendation of the proposal should come from the head of the unit (e.g., your department chair, dean, etc.).
