Global Infectious Disease (GID) Research Training Program (D43 Clinical Trial Optional) is sponsored by Fogarty International Center (FIC), National Institutes of Health (NIH). This program encourages joint applications from U.S. and low- and middle-income country (LMIC) institutions to develop collaborative training programs that strengthen the capacity of LMIC institutions to conduct infectious disease research.
It supports research training in major endemic or life-threatening emerging infectious diseases, neglected tropical diseases, infections frequently occurring as co-infections in HIV infected individuals, or infections associated with non-communicable disease conditions of public health importance in LMICs. Training can encompass basic, epidemiological, clinical, behavioral, or social science health research.
