Global Teacher Grants is sponsored by U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) administered by IREX. Global Teacher Grants offer opportunities for alumni of Teacher Exchanges to catalyze their efforts as teacher leaders, develop professionally, and affect positive change in their schools and communities.

Recipients of Global Teacher Grants use the funding, in addition to the resources, skills, and networks that they acquired during their exchanges, to benefit their students, colleagues, administrators, and communities. When available, Global Teacher Grants are sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by IREX.

Fulbright Teacher Exchange alumni were awarded a 2023 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund grant to train secondary teachers in Cameroon on education technology platforms and best practices.

Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund The Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund (CDAF) offers up to $10,000 USD to complete policy-inspired community service projects both in the United States and around the globe to increase the effectiveness of U.S. Department of State exchange programming and advance U.S. policy goals.

Alumni Engagement and Innovation Fund The Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) supports collaboration between U.S. government-sponsored exchange program alumni and U.S. missions on small projects that advance U.S. policy goals.

Additional grant opportunities can be found through the following entities: Fulbright Teacher Exchange alumni who were awarded a 2023 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund grant Nomintuul Byambatsogt (Mongolia to U.S. 2023) trained teachers at two schools on classroom technology and tools. Nato Kldiashvili (Georgia to U.S. 2021) established a chess club, including building a new giant board to engage young learners in the game.

Students in Pennsylvania received hands-on robotics and software programming lessons from Brooke Nenadal (U.S. to Germany 2022). Spellan William (Tanzania to U.S. 2019) coordinated a training for teachers on cyber security. Josh Amstutz's (U.S. to Peru 2022) Ohio students created a tower garden at their school.

U.S. and Peruvian alumni collaborated on a cross-border poetry project. Alumni from India and the United States collaborated on a avian biodiversity project. Shermy Motlhbane (Botswana to U.S. 2020) created a series of anti-bullying clubs for students, teachers, and parents.

Kate Strein (U.S. to Peru) created an organized hydroponic garden to teach students how to grow their own food in Florida conditions. Heather Ridge (U.S. to Indonesia, India) partnered with schools in Greece, one of the most seismically active places in Europe, to train teachers on using live data to connect theoretical science lessons to real-world problems.

François Brou (Côte D'Ivoire to U.S.) established a community farm at his school to help address food insecurity and educate students on the challenges and constraints of the agricultural economy.
