GoATL Fund | Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta GoATL is an impact fund strategy designed to achieve both a social (impact) and financial (investment) return.
These innovative fund approaches provide mission-minded investors with an opportunity to accelerate and sustain positive community outcomes for metro Atlanta residents by providing cost-effective loans to nonprofits and for-profit partners who leverage these investments to achieve impacts in areas such as safe and healthy housing, new schools in underserved areas, as well as more equitable access to living-wage careers.
GoATL expanded its scope in 2022. In addition to its historic support of innovative intermediaries like Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), GoATL now also has funds that focus on direct investments into opportunities that advance affordable housing. Read on to learn more about the strategy behind these funds, as well as the impact they are making across metro Atlanta communities.
What is impact investing? Impact investing is strategically invested capital that makes a positive social impact in local neighborhoods while providing a small financial return. GoATL’s investments support social causes and enterprises that provide sustainable, long-term benefits to the community, achieving capital preservation and a measurable financial return.
While traditional philanthropy provides grants, impact investing recycles dollars for the greater good. GoATL funds targeted for positive impact: Addressing inequities in the Atlanta region by investing in the capacity of the community’s best advocates for innovation. Investing directly in housing solutions that offer Atlanta residents affordable living options.

Preserving farmland for next-generation farmers In 2021, the Community Foundation’s impact investing initiative, GoATL, invested in the Conservation Fund’s Working Farms Fund to create and preserve urban farms in Atlanta, supporting local farmers who feed our neighborhood residents with safe, healthy and fresh farm-to-table food.
GoATL Community Capacity Fund: Driving impact in Metro Atlanta since 2018 $1,500,000 impact investment Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership, Inc. is investing in single-family and rent-to-own homes to revitalize underserved communities throughout metro Atlanta.
$1,250,000 impact investment Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs, Inc. supports expansion of Small Business Advantage (SBA) loans to undeserved and low-income entrepreneurs. $1,000,000 impact investment Enterprise Community Partners, Inc.’s loan fund supports its expanding portfolio of multi-family affordable housing throughout the metro Atlanta area.
$2,000,000 impact investment The Reinvestment Fund supports diverse initiatives in affordable housing, the arts, education and food access. $1,000,000 impact investment Low Income Investment Fund supports facility financing of high-potential, early-stage charter schools for students in underperforming school districts in metro Atlanta.
$500,000 impact investment Focused Community Strategies (FCS) boosts successful affordable housing initiatives. $1,500,000 impact investment Local Initiatives Support Corporation is a national community development financial institution (CDFI) that provides financing and support for community development around the country.
$1,000,000 impact investment The Conservation Fund’s Working Farms Fund supports the acquisition of at-risk farmland located in the Atlanta region. $500,000 impact investment Southern Opportunity and Resilience Fund supports inadequately financed small businesses and expands the capacity of community development financial institutions (CDFIs) across Georgia.
$250,000 impact investment LiftFund provides 0% interest loans to micro-businesses in the metro Atlanta area that are owned by Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) entrepreneurs.
