A dermatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in treating the skin, hair, and nails. Dermatologists care for people of all ages. Good Skin Knowledge Community Grants The AAD will offer community grants from $400 up to $2,000 to non-profit and community-based organizations in underserved areas to deliver Good Skin Knowledge lesson plan training to children ages 8-13 in their community.
Learn if your organization is eligible to apply. The AAD Good Skin Knowledge Community Grant Program is open to community groups, schools, and after school programs to help deliver this four-module lesson plan training to children ages 8-13 within their organization. The four lessons include: the skin, acne, sun safety and bugs and plants.
Lessons are available in English and in Spanish. Funds will be distributed as follows: $20 per child for a minimum of 20 children ($400) up to a maximum of $2,000 (100 children total).
For grants over $400 - half of the funds will be distributed at the beginning of the project, the other half after the session is completed with a submitted report and count of participants, along with other supporting evidence of the activity (photographs).
The following criteria must be met to secure a grant: Organization must be a verified 501(c)(3) Grantee must work with a designated AAD affiliate (member, resident, student) who will help deliver training. The AAD will help pair the organization with someone to work with. Signed waivers/consent forms from all participants must be submitted to AAD.
Signed letter of agreement must be submitted. Total trained students must be submitted via summary form after lessons are delivered. All supplies for STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) activities must be purchased by the grantee and available for use during training sessions with students.
All four session modules must be covered. Training must be delivered by December 31, 2026. Additional information about the program can be found in FAQs .
