Data Center Innovation Initiative is sponsored by Elemental Impact (with Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Breakthrough Energy Discovery, Builders Vision Philanthropy, Salesforce, Stolte Family Foundation). This initiative funds startups developing sustainable data center technologies through to deployment inside working data centers. Priority areas include energy, cooling, electrical systems, and construction materials linked to the expansion of compute capacity. The program aims to use live facilities as testing grounds for systems that could later transfer to wider industrial use. Projects are expected to run 12 to 18 months. To qualify, a cooling technology must demonstrate a 30-80% reduction in water usage effectiveness (WUE) or a 20-40% reduction in cooling-related power usage effectiveness (PUE).
LINGUA Africa Open Call for Inclusive AI Language Projects is sponsored by Microsoft AI for Good Lab, Gates Foundation, Masakhane African Languages Hub, and Google.org.
