Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) is sponsored by Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh. This program supports NGOs in Bangladesh undertaking projects in areas such as basic health care, primary education, poverty alleviation, water and sanitation, women's empowerment, child welfare, support for persons with disabilities, agriculture, and disaster risk reduction.

go. jp/itpr_ja/11_000001_00181. html Japanese Embassy in Bangladesh Agriculture & Rural Development Environment & Natural Resources Peace & Conflict Resolution The Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh is seeking applications for its Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) to support various development projects with a view to enhance human security at the grass-roots level.

There is an increasing need for cooperation by the entire international community to realize a peaceful and affluent society in which everybody can live their individual lives in a humane manner.

The overall goal of GGP is to enhance the wellbeing of people at the grassroots level, based on the concept of human security, for example: (1) education: primary education, illiteracy reduction, vocational training, governance, and human resource development in communities; (2) health: primary health care, family planning, HIV/AIDS, rehabilitation for people with disabilities, and communicable diseases; (3) livelihoods: environmental protection, social welfare for people with disabilities, street children and the elderly, gender issues, violence against women, women’s empowerment, and education for girls; and (4) others: disaster planning and prevention.

Non-profit organisations, which have implemented economic and social development projects, e.g. local NGOs, international NGOs, educational institutions, medical institutions, etc are eligible to apply. Actions must take place in Bangladesh. The maximum amount per project is 20 million Japanese Yen in principle.

The grant covers mainly the costs of purchasing equipment / constructing facilities, and personnel costs (excluding personnel costs of the recipient organization) that are necessary for the project’s achievement. They accept applications through-out the year. However, applications are screened once a year from April.

Therefore, it is advised to submit applications by 31st March. Applications submitted after June will be forwarded to next year for review. Applicants are advised to submit applications well in advance to avail sufficient time for review and discussion.
