Grants for international exchanges/travels In order to promote dissemination of quality Swedish literature and drama abroad and international exchanges in these areas, the Swedish Authors' Fund disburses special grants for travel and international exchanges. Grant applications are reviewed five times per year, with the following application deadlines: February 1, April 1, June 1, September 1 and November 1.
Normally, decisions are made within two weeks of each respective deadline. Only applications that have arrived no later than the dates above will be considered on each occasion. The individual amounts granted are often quite small, normally ranging between SEK 5,000 and SEK 50,000.
Grants for travel and international exchanges are available for all literary professional categories and genres: authors, playwrights, translators, illustrators and journalists in the field of arts. Previously, the Swedish Writers' Fund also granted these types of grants to translators who translate from Swedish into other languages. However, this responsibility now lies with the Swedish Arts Council (Kulturrådet).
Those of you who translate Swedish literature and drama into other languages are therefore referred to the Swedish Literature Exchange within the Arts Council. Information for applicants in Swedish (pdf)
